MBC’s “East of Eden”’s 19 week consecutive reign as top drama has finally been dethroned by KBS‘ “Boys Before Flowers” during the New Year weekend.

Looks like an inauspicious start for the cast of East of Eden in this new year. Oh well, you can’t be number one forever.

Sexy Song Seung-heon is a manly man carrying a heavy big blue gas tank (swoon) in a recent episode of his comeback tv drama, “East of Eden.”

Dedicated fans of the star wanted more and weren’t satisfied seeing Mr. sexy in 40 inch screens so Song Seung-heon’s fanclub, “Honeylang” (허리랑) rented out a whole movie theater in Apku-jong to watch their honey. Mixed half and half of Korean and Japanese fans, a total of two hundred Honeylang-ers watched episode 5 and 6 in the darkness of the theater wooing and ahhing when their man appeared on screen.

“East of Eden” airs every Monday & Tuesdays on MBC at 9:55pm.

The highlight of watching the mildly interesting special program “Making of East of Eden,” last night on MBC was the outtake with Lee Yeon-hee messing up her lines when Song Seung-heon took off his t-shirt. You could literally see the girl salivate!

Basically the East of Eden special just showed how much money (25 million USD) was poured into the production of the drama. Noteworthy was the special set that was built in the style of the 1980’s Korea, and filming in foreign locales (Hong Kong).

That was Monday. On Tuesday night, eagerly anticipating more shirtless moments of eye-candy Song Seung-heon, I kept wondering when the action was going to happen. It never did because I grew bored after 20 minutes of trying to figure out what is going on.

Not sure whether to give the drama another chance.

Some celebrities seek the eternal fountain of youth through the needle (i.e. botox) or take other drastic measures, but very few actually embrace aging with aplomb. Despite the lines around his eyes (sign of a player in Korea), Song Seung-heon is one of the very few who gets even sexier the older he becomes.

Swoon.

But (and how did you know that was coming?), the smoking hot actor needs to fix his frizzy hair! The do might have that “je ne sais quoi” quality about it, but the mop just takes away from his sexiness.

The big budget drama, East of Eden will air on MBC on August 25, 2008. (woo hoo!)

Thank goodness I am in Korea! It’s been a while since I have been this excited to see a drama-and all because I was bored out of my mind at Emart today. At the supermarket, I was being brainwashed as the flat screen televisions hanging over the checkout counter kept replaying the teaser for the upcoming drama, East of Eden. My eyes were glued to Song Seung-heon looking all fine and sexy as a gas delivery boy. Dang, the man looked so smoking hot that I wish he could deliver a gas tank to me too.

With an all-star cast including Lee Da-hae, Han Ji-hye, Yeon Jung-hoon, Park Hae-jin, Lee Yeon-hee, Yu Dong-gun, Lee Mi-sook, Jo Min-ki and Dennis Oh, let’s hope the drama is half as good as the trailer. Even if it’s not, I’ll be watching for Mr eye-candy above.
