Why would Nam Gyu-ri want to reveal the reason of her leaving SeeYa on a nail art magazine?

Sure beats me.

Nam Gyu-ri, who was involved in legal issues with Core Contents Media for breaking contract and dropping out of SeeYa, has popped up on the September issue of Nail Up magazine. Guess she was pretty desperate for some work and attention.

For the September issue of Nail Up, Nam Gyu-ri wanted to portray a new sexy image, she has never before shown. Good for her, finally trying something new and she doesn’t look too bad either. However, what’s interesting is, on the top right corner of the magazine there’s a little excerpt stating that she “finally opens her mouth” about the whole issue with Core Contents Media. Of all the different media outlets, why did she choose a nail art magazine that doesn’t attract too many readers to reveal her side of the story? Are people avoiding doing work with the girl because Core Contents Media announced that they will be taking full legal action against her? Could be.

Kim Kwang-soo, the president of Core Contents Media has announced that he will be taking full legal action. He also didn’t forget to add that he has lost all trust in her and warned Nam Gyu-ri that she will have a hard time surviving in the entertainment industry if she keeps up her tendency to break promises and be untrustworthy.

After a very public breakup between Nam Gyu-ri and her fellow SeeYa members Yeon-hi and Bo-ram, Core Contents Media has finally chosen a replacement for the infamous singer. On August 19th, Core Content Media officially announced the 1989′er Soo-mi (who stands at an impressive 170cm tall) as the third harpy to the talented group SeeYa.

The girl’s clearly got the image, but does she have the voice? Apparently so, seeing as how in 2001 she advanced to the preliminary rounds of SBS “Brilliant Voice“, but was told by her folks to drop out and study. Though the event occured when the girl was a mere 12 years old, the girl can most likely sing a note or two seeing as how SeeYa is known best for it’s vocal ability. We’ll just have to wait and see if she is worthy of her place beside the rest of SeeYa.

It looks like Nam Gyu-ri won’t be re-joining forces with SeeYa, after all.

Not too long ago, Core Contents Media released an official statement that Nam Gyu-ri would resume her contract with the company. However, it looks like everything has been called off, again, because they could not come to a mutual agreement in terms of her contract. Kim Kwang-soo, the president of Core Contents Media stated,

We’ve tried several times to talk over the situation with Nam Gyu-ri but in the end she has refused to return (to our company).  It was Nam Gyu-ri’s side that contacted us first and we had two meetings where I asked her to return for the sake of the remaining members. However, Nam Gyu-ri eventually stated, “I can’t do it. I can’t come back as SeeYa”. I tried to resolve the whole situation in the best possible way. I’ve done all that I can.

Then why did Kim Kwang-soo make such a confident statement about Nam Gyu-ri’s comeback during the phone conversation on the variety show, Radio Star? It seems as though Nam Gyu-ri first promised to re-join the team and release a single but only for something in return. What is it that she asked for? None other, than to be released from her contract with Core Contents Media. During an interview with NewsEn, a representative of Core Contents Media stated,

In exchange for releasing a single under SeeYa, Nam Gyu-ri set a condition asking to be released from contract. This was a condition we couldn’t accept. So eventually everything was called off.

Can the girl be anymore selfish? Sure, Nam Gyu-ri has yet to release her side of the story but it seems pretty obvious that all she’s focused on is being released from her contract with minimal damage to her image and pocket. Who really wants to listen to the music of someone that doesn’t want to sing and share her music with fans but only wants to end a contract she doesn’t want to complete? She may have been the face of SeeYa but can’t help but feel that she’s a good riddance.

Core Contents Media, has already selected the new member of SeeYa and will reveal the new member on August 19th.

And the fight goes on.

Nam Gyu-ri has been leaving responses on her own ‘Cyworld’ homepage regarding her betrayal of ‘Seeya’. In response, Kim Kwang-soo, the director of ‘Core Contents Media’ has been throwing punches at Nam Gyu-ri left and right. Each punch being harder than the first each time she leaves a response on her ‘Cyworld’ homepage.

What started as a matter of contract infringement has now become a bigger issue. Kim Kwang-soo has since then exposed stories of Nam Gyu-ri having a boyfriend who is her sponsor, wanting special treatment, this being her second betrayal, and being money hungry. But this surely wasn’t enough for him because he pulled out his next card-Lee Bo-ram and Kim Yeon-ji of ‘Seeya’.

Lee Bo-ram and Kim Yeon-ji of ‘Seeya’ have decided to tell their side of the story in front of camera’s instead of behind a computer screen like their ex-partner. This past 26th, on the set of ‘Womens Generation-Eternal Love’ MV film set, the two held a mini press conference of tears. Lee Bo-ram responded to Nam Gyu-ri’s ‘Cyworld’ messages in tears stating,

There are a lot of thing’s Nam Gyu-ri said that were distorted. If there were so many problems with our company, we would have left as well. I’m confused and just don’t understand why there are so many false stories that are being told. We saw the message Nam Gyu-ri left on her homepage today. This is all so appalling. It’s a shame because Director Kim Kwang-soo worked harder than anyone for Nam Gyu-ri. It’s nonsense that Nam Gyu-ri was mistreated. Because of Nam Gyu-ri, our stylist changed so many times. It’s to the extent that we don’t have any more coordinators that will work with us, and even our hair salon was changed many times. Our company went out of their way to accomodate her needs. Because of her we went through a lot of hardships and pain. Her claims to have made only $80 million KRW during the past 3 years is not true as well. Before we began our 3rd album activities she was preparing for her role as an actress and told us she wouldn’t be able to contribute and be active for our 3rd album for long. We were hurty by what she said because we’re merely beings that just really wanted to sing. Still, since we felt that it was a good opportunity for her to pursue her career as an actress, we wanted to cheer her on. But while preparing for our 3rd album she told us that if she didn’t have any solo parts she wouldn’t participate in the 3rd album. We were appalled and disappointed by what she said. I really don’t understand why she feels so upset and victimized. We didn’t have much problems as a team but as time went by she gave us so many scars. As a leader of a team she wasn’t able to take on her responsibilities. We haven’t been able to get in contact with her for a while now. So many people think that all this happened over night but it didn’t. Those times were hard and painful for us to endure. I really didn’t want to have to come out and say this…but Nam Gyu-ri who had to make this whole situation is just…

Kim Yeon-ji didn’t say as much but surely didn’t refrain from expressing her feelings either.

It’s not like we weren’t able to express our opinions as well. We kept quiet on the matter only because we felt that it would only lead to hurting each others feelings. We kept quiet because we wanted to end everything on good terms but things were getting blown out of proportion and put our company and ourselves in an awkard position. There’s nothing more I can say but I hope this whole situation won’t get any worse than it needs to. We believe that even others won’t believe that she only made $80 million KRW either. There’s a number of activities she took on (acting and singing career) during that time and by just looking at that it doesn’t make sense that she only made $80 million KRW. From our point of view this is just betrayal and it’s upsetting and hurtful for us.

I hated having to join hands with the devil. I didn’t want to live the kind of life people commonly talk about, about being entangled and bound to money. Who is the person behind me? When did I have a dual contract? Who is my sponsor and who is this boyfriend that is helping me? How much money did I make and how many hidden secrets contained within secrets do i have to reveal? This whole matter has turned into a huge “he said, she said” situation we’ve all dealt with in elementary school. The three members and company involved should really stop with the media play. It’s starting to make them all look bad because they all just seem to be playing victim. It’s time for them to invest the pretty penny they made into something called a lawyer and take it to court already.

As if Wondergirls, Kara, and the once five member group After School were not enough.

And why 5 members? Why not 7, 9, 11, 3?! Hell, why not combine all the groups for a large mega group with 15 or more members?

With the merging of Mnet and GM, the two management companies have announced that they will combine three different girl groups to produce a whole new concept for “ballad” singers. Is this anything new?

Davichi, Seeya (minus Nam Gyuri), and Jiyeon from T-Ara (another girl group three years in the making) will come together for a single. With no name yet determined, netizens have just resorted to mentioning all the groups.

If that was not enough news, rumors are floating around about Jiyeon replacing Nam Gyuri who will probably be involved in a legal battle with GM due to her breach in contract. With Seeya preparing for it’s fourth album, Nam Gyuri announced her departure from the group even though she has two years left in her five year contract which has, according to the company, caused the group to lose valuable time and money.

The reason for the departure is that she wants to  pursue an acting career.

Looks like the press will have another field day at the courtroom. And if history indicates anything, Nam Gyuri is fighting a losing battle e.g. Rain and Lee Jun Ki.

SeeYa doesn’t really mean “See You Always” after all.

Having only debuted in 2006, SeeYa is already shaking at its foundation. Originally, the trio was signed under a five year contract with GM, but the management company has since been absorbed into M-Net Media. And with the end of SeeYa’s contract with M-Net, they are transferring over to Core Contents Media for the remainder of the two years from their original contract. Lee Bo-ram and Kim Yeon-ji have already moved over to the new management this past February and have begun preparations toward their fourth album. However, Nam Gyu-ri has failed to do the same.

So technically, Nam Gyu-ri is breaching her contract by dropping out, as well as affecting the release of their new album and the entire image of SeeYa, itself.

As a result, Core Contents is planning to sue.

Nam Gyu-ri’s people are just taking this sitting down though. They were told that her leaving would not lead to the disbanding of SeeYa, as there is already a replacement waiting in the halls. However, this fact has yet to be confirmed.

Nam Gyu-ri, apparently, has not given any reason for her decision to not contribute to SeeYa’s new album. Perhaps, it could be her health or a desire to escape the lime light. Being realistic though, it is most likely that she wishes to take a little break and eventually go solo.

The plastic doll does get more face time than Bo-ram and Yeon-ji but it is disappointing to watch SeeYa get dismantled. However, there has always been speculation over Nam Gyu-ri going solo, so it doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

Seeya’s Nam Gyu-ri is another pop act who has changed hats to dancer for the KBS special, “Shall we dance” on January 27th. Although the plastic princess attempted to do the tango, the performance, in our eyes, was blah. Basically the girl just got flung around by her dancing partner.

However, the judges on the show thought Nam Gyu-ri’s performance was not as good as the current MVP, Seungri.

Nam Gyu-ri is more than a princess, the girl beats up men- all for a new teaser video by a faceless, “Miss S.” The fresh track is called, “Cheater” but dang, that doesn’t give the vain gong-ju the right to be b-slapping some poor bloke. First, she slaps him hard on the side of his head like it’s a baseball, then does a double whack using both hands, then proceeds to crush his head on the table. Next, the girl turns up the pain factor a notch by taking off her pointy heels to cause irreparable damage to his body. Is this all necessary? If the guy is a no-good two-timer, he is not even worth the dirt stuck on the bottom of a shoe. All that energy put into smacking the guy around is a waste of time. Doesn’t she know that the best revenge is to move on with your life and be happy?

Guess not.

Nam Gyu-ri epitomizes the Korean term “gong-ju byung” which is translated as “princess sickness” or a girl who is extremely vain and narcissistic. Having said that, if I spent millions of won trying to look pretty, that just might happen to me too-not.

Every year I look on the calender to see how long the Chuseok (Korea’s Thankgiving) holidays are since the days change based on the moon calendar. And this year, Chuseok falls on the weekend-so Saturday to Monday (September 13-15). I feel ripped off.

Hopefully next year will be better.
