Girls Generation’s magnae Seo-hyun seems to be in a fairy tale.

SHINee members and Seo-hyun did a photoshoot for the December issue of Vogue. The concept of the shoot was “The Wild Swans,” a fairy tale written by Hans Christian Andersen in 1838. “The Wild Swans” is about a princess who rescues her eleven prince brothers from an evil curse that turns them into swans at night. Maybe Vogue should have hired Super Junior.

Donning (slightly) better hairstyles than their “Ring Ding Dong” MV, the SHINee boys get their swan on! It really does look like a fairy tale, producing a unique concept for the usually too-cute SHINee members. Seo-hyun also captures a wild princess look. Her hair and outfit look amazing. Seo-hyun, is that really you?

In addition, a behind-the-scenes video of the photoshoot will be released on December 23rd on the Vogue website.

Looks like K-pop fans in the Philippines are in for a treat!

Referring from PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), SHINee will be heading to the Philippines on November 27th to perform a free K-pop concert for the fans. Also from the article:

“For Pinoy K-pop fans, November is the season to be jolly. To cap the year-long celebration of 60 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and the Philippines, the Korean Embassy will hold on November 19-27 the Korean Cultural Festival, which will let Filipinos have a taste of Korean food, dance, music, theater, and arts.

But the most-awaited event in the week-long festival is the free K-pop concert scheduled on November 27. It will feature popular Korean front acts like boyband Shinee, jazz band Winterplay, and energetic rap duo Mighty Mouth. In an email message to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Blaise Regacho, Executive Assistant on Economic & Cultural Affairs for the Korean Embassy, said the concert was borne out of several petitions by avid K-pop fans in the country, to bring Korean stars to the Philippines. Shinee was the first group they were able to get, she added.”

Hopefully, Onew is fully recovered by then!

Another SHINee member catches the swine flu.

SHINee leader Onew has recently been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus, more commonly known as the swine flu. Onew’s illness comes after his  fellow SHINee member, Jong-hyun, was hospitalized with the flu last week.

Onew was sent to the hospital after developing a slight fever and is currently resting at home until he fully recovers. Since Onew is the second SHINee member to fall ill with the highly contagious virus, members Ki-bum, Tae-min and Min-ho have now also been tested for swine flu. As it stands, none of the other members currently have the virus.

Though their leader is currently out of commission, SHINee is still scheduled to perform on the November 8th taping of SBS “Inkigayo“. It is rumored that Super Junior leader Lee-teuk will fill in for Onew during the performance.  Earlier this week, Super Junior’s Ye-sung had to replace SHINee member  Jong-hyun (then ill with H1N1) during the group’s November 6th  KBS “Music Bank” performance.

Onew is just  another name on the the long list of celebrities who have fallen ill with the  virus. Fortunately, his fellow member Jong-hyun was diagnosed and released within the week. Let’s hope Onew can recover just as quickly!

Looks like SHINee has gotten the noonaa to “ring ding dong” them on Youtube.

The music video for SHINee’s fresh single “Ring Ding Dong” topped the most-watched video on Youtube this month with 1 million hits, according to their management company, SM.

Although the MV officially received 747,292 hits on the SM page on Youtube as of October 30, the inclusion of the MV posted up by fans bumped up the number of hits to over 1 million.

Not only that, the noonas made sure that the MV was the “Most Talked About Video” with 3,844 comments.

Don’t worry though, their digital album was released on time today.

It looks like all you SHINee fans that have been waiting for the release of SHINee’s physical 3rd mini album, will have to wait a few more days. Although SHINee’s new mini album, 2009, Year Of Us, was supposed to be released simultaneously online and off, it has been delayed until the 22nd.

Apparently, during the final stages of entering production, it turned out that there was a problem with the audio file of a number of tracks, causing SM  Entertainment to stop production and recall all albums that had been shipped out. Mass production will resume once all problems with the audio files have been fixed.

In preparation for their upcoming debut, SHENee members are garnering some double-takes with their radical transformations. What’s interesting, however, is that their “radical transformations” are from looking over the top to, well, less over the top. Today, SHINee member Key’s concept photos were released and boy oh boy, does anybody recognize him? Am I alone in thinking something has to be done with men sporting eye makeup?

The biggest concert of the year, the 2009 Dream Concert packed in idol fans into the World Cup Stadium on October 10th. The 3.5 hour concert featured 17 of your favorite pop acts: Girls Generation, KARA, Jewelry, f(x), 2NE1, 4Minute, Tiara & Supernova, Super Junior, Big Bang, 2PM, 2AM, MC Mong, Park Hyo-shin, Kim Tae-woo, Chae-yeon, SHINee and Wheesung.

And since the weather is turning cooler, the pop acts have followed suit by turning to black fashions to blend into the equally darkened stage. With all the black, how are we supposed to  tell who is who?

What were they thinking back then?

After their monster debut single “Nuna, You’re So Pretty” and their fairly popular sophomore single “Juliette,” it’s no surprise that the colorful boys of SHINee are back to steal the hearts of older women with album number three, “2009, Year Of Us,” set to be released October 19th. The third album is said to display more of their vocal abilities as well as reveal a more mature side to the group. Thank you, it’s about time.

As part of the “SBS Chuseok (Thanksgiving) Special Idol Big Show,” airing October 3rd, Girls’ Generation will perform their not-so-popular 2007 debut single “Into the New World.” Considering the song is quite melodramatic, I’m excited to see the members expressions when re-performing this you-can-do-it song after reaching  such success in the music market with “Gee,” their latest “Tell Me Your Wish” and numerous, successful side projects.

This show is going to be quite the talk of the town, featuring other immensely popular idols such as G-Dragon, 2NE1, KARA, SHINee, 4minute, After School, Lee Seung-ki 2AM, as well as some hush-hush idol group currently active overseas. Who can it be…..?

Have you forgotten that Girls Generation has already said goodbye? Yeah, me too considering they’ve still been performing all over the place. What showcase are you most excited for?

Not too long ago we reported that the old KBS variety show “Go Dream Team“  was set to come back for a second season. Show veterans Shin Jung-hwan, G.O.D.’s Danny Ahn and Jo Sung-mo were all confirmed to return to the show. Newcomers Jun-ho of 2PM, Min-ho of SHINee and MC Song Joong-ki (the current MC of KBS Music Bank) were also cast to appear in the new and improved second season, titled “Go Dream Team Season 2 – The Green Team is Coming”.

For the show’s premiere, the new “Dream Team” has been lined up to compete in a series of physical challenges against a group of trained Incheon Coast Guards. Girl group KARA will also be  making an appearance and putting the guys through a series of tests in order to choose the group’s “best popular male”.

A few shots from the set have been revealed and from the looks of things, it seems we’ll get to see some dancing and a bit of skin. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait until September 13th, the date of the show’s premiere, to see anything more.

Remember that old KBS variety show?

No, 2Pm’s Lee Jun-ho and SHINee’s Choi Min-ho aren’t ditching their respective idol groups. The  two singers just have been cast in the second season of the KBS variety show “Go Dream Team“. The show, which premiered way back in 1999,  once featured some pretty famous guest stars, including Rain, Kwon Sang -woo, Yoo Jae-suk and Shinhwa, competing in the show’s physical challenges.

Six years after the end of the first season, the program has returned with a new title “Go DreamTeam Season 2 – The Green Team is Coming” and its pilot episode is set to air on September 13th. The program’s  first episode will feature the new “Dream Team” competing against some Incheon Coast Guards.

A few of the cast of the new dream team have already been announced, including Jun-ho, Min-ho and MC Song Joong-ki, the current MC of KBS Music Bank. These new players will be joined by  a few of the show’s veteran cast members  from the first season, including Shin Jung-hwan, G.O.D.’s Danny Ahn and Jo Sung-mo,  all of whom have been confirmed to return.

The  second season of “Go Dream Team” is expected to  be bigger and better than the first. One of the show’s PDs even stated:

“We will bring the dynamic variety and fun that the audience had not watched before.”

JYP Entertainment’s hottest male group debuted in the fall of 2008 arousing the females with their energetic aerobatics on stage to the tune of their debut single, “10 out of 10“. Over the past year, 2PM shown us more than back-flips and somersaults, they’ve unleashed smooth moves with their comeback “Again & Again“ that were oozing with charisma, and that they are essentially a bunch of dorks that just like to mess around most of the time. Do their devil-may-care whims win you over?

Remember, what you should take into consideration shouldn’t be which is more popular or “better”, but rather whose aura is most appealing to the female demographic. Give us your best evidence, amusing anecdotes, and personal convictions, and we’ll take those into consideration.

You have spoken and what I’m hearing is…

2PM has male charm in spades.

I almost gave it to SHINee for this one comment from balabababa1003325, ”oh please, the members of 2pm individually are just really girly,” which when you think about it and from their behavior on Wild Bunny, that’s a fairly valid statement.

Reading the comments, it was nice to see POPSEOULers appreciating the unique qualities of both groups. I thought = )SHINee2PM’s little catch phrase was quite cute, “Rise & SHINee it’s 2PM!“

Although many POPSEOULers weren’t afraid to admit to being a noona in love, 2PM seemed to be the obvious choice for almost everybody. SHINee is definitely the more polished and talented boy group between the two, but many of you felt SHINee’s boyhood, pastel skinny jeans, and “appropriate proper prissy idol” personas just couldn’t stand a chance against 2PM’s “beasty” stage charisma and “adorkable” personalities on your girly hormones. Guess feminine guys aren’t in vogue anymore.
