The “Style Icon Awards” took place on November 11, at Namsan Seoul Tower Special Air Dome and the celebrities graced the ceremony with their holy presence and some questionable attire (Suh In-young anyone?) .The voluptuous Kim Hye-soo was awarded the “Icon of the Year” award. Woman knows how to flaunt what her mama gave her!

Fierce fashion idols 2ne1 won the female singer awards! The MCs for the event was Suh In-young and Baek Ji-yeon. Now you’ll be the judge, who is in and who is out?

The trio of Rain, Kwon Sang-woo and Kim Sung-soo launched an online shopping mall, aptly titled CelebShop, featuring their clothing labels- Bi’s “SIX to FIVE”, Kwon Sang-woo’s “The Guy” and Kim Sung-soo’s “Dear Gentleman”

The launch party was held at CGV, Gangnam Apgujeong on October 28th.

I say follow it! Another trend badge for the fashion girl scout, Suh In-young. WHY? The oversize jacket can cover up all your flaws okay maybe not all. Say you ate too much at a dinner event and you’re spotting a stomach bump *high pitch shriek* on top of that, a hottie ask you for a last dance *mind exploded due to potential humiliation*. Honey, no amount of deep breaths gonna hide it so, put on that “boyfriend’s jacket” and waltz away.

Pair it with a black mini dress, gorgeous shoes (stilettos/strappy heels) and bright accessories (gold fringe necklace) for that A grade fashion.

Sandara Park is a wanted woman.

Not only do POPSEOULers want to vacay with her, but Korean netizens voted her as the #1 “edge girl.” Online music site, Bugs, recently conducted a poll for the best “edge girl. And guess who won? Sandara Park. Forty-eight of the 2242 votes went to Da-ra (1083 votes) for her trend-setting broomstick hairstyle (which is supposed to represent “edgy”).

The term, “edge girl,” which refers to a fashionable, edgy, charismatic girl who knows what she wants, is from the new Kim Hye-soo drama, “Style.”

She just loves the attention, doesn’t she.

Jewelry’s Suh In-young will be the next celebrity to have a cameo appearance on the SBS drama “Style“. The show has already featured  cameos from celebrities like 2NE1, 2PM and F.T. Island, as well as Bada, Jessica Gomez and Cha Ye-ryun, just to name a few.

What will set In-young’s appearance apart, however, is that unlike all of the other stars who have appeared on the show, the singer will not be appearing as herself. Instead, she will play a character on the show. In other words, the “Cinderella” singer is going to try her hand at acting. Oh boy, looks like we’ve got another singer-turned-actress on our hands!

In-young will play a recent fashion school graduate working as an intern designer on the show and the singer is reportedly very happy with the role given to her. She will appear on the show’s 11th episode, which will air on September 5th.

So, do you think Suh In-young has enough “edge” to pull the role off or is this all just a “Style” disaster waiting to happen? I’m predicting the latter, but I guess we’ll all have to tune in to find out.

For a while now, one of the most bold and characteristic fashion hairstyles has been the mushroom cut.

Just like the fungus, the mushroom hairstyle has many different variations. They range anywhere from short and round (like a straw mushroom) to long and flowing (like a shiitake mushroom). Poofy, close-cropped, wavy, straight, you name it. It can look absolutely cute and cheek-pinchingly adorable; yet cut or worn wrongly, it can really look cheap and ruin the day and eye-sight of anyone who sees it (I saw one such monstrosity at Lotte World one time, it still gives me nightmares). It has made appearances on the streets of Korea worn by everyday people, to the small and big screen where it is subsequently shown-off on the domes of various celebrities.

Most recently it has made an appearance with cute actress Han Hyo-joo (top right) of Spring Waltz and Iljimae fame. She is back again in a new drama called “Shining Inheritance” featuring K-ballad crooner Lee Seung-ki. In this drama, Han Hyo-joo sports the famous, or rather infamous mushroom hair-style that is and has been the rage in Korea for quite some time. It seems like she took “mushroom” quite literally as her hair could be confused with a large toadstool if seen far away.

The mushroom hairstyle has been displayed on the heads of other famous K-celebs as well namely Suh In-young, (bottom left) Jessica (Girls Generation) (bottom right) Kang Min-kyung (the taller part of the singer duo Davichi – middle left), Tae Min (of SHINee- middle right), Micky Yoo-Chun (of Dong-bang-shin-ki – top, middle) MC Mong (insert monkey joke/comment here- bottom midde) and more recently beautiful actresses Song Hye-kyo (middle) and Ku Hye-sun (top left)in the dramas “The World That They Live In” and “Boys Before Flowers.” Popular even several years ago, it seems that the mushroom cap hair style refuses to die and continues to spore and grow on the heads of Korea’s youth and celebrities.

So, what are your thoughts on this style? First hand knowledge from mushroom-hair wearers and aficionados is most welcome.

Suh In-young, Afterschool and DJ Koo were spotted at the Lady GaGa showcase last night at Club Answer. The futuristic fashioned singer sustained a minor injury today while taping the Mnet Countdown. Luckily, she was ok and was able to finish up her performance and tape an interview with the music channel.

Following Suh In-young’s vacation in the US, the high maintenance former, “We Got Married” star is ready to get back into the television spotlight with her own reality program, “Suh In-young’s Brand New Friend.”

The Mnet channel show started airing on May 14th, where twelve participants out of approximately 5,000 applicants have been chosen to undergo special missions in pursuit of the pointy nosed songstress’s friendship and each week the least brown-nosing contestant gets eliminated.

Having previously terrorized the prestigious KAIST campus in “Suh In-young in KAIST,” In-young is smart enough to realize that:

some people must have applied because they want to be a celebrity themselves, and many of them must have had other intentions, rather than purely wanting to be my friend. Many people try to befriend you based on your background, rather than taking you as you are. That’s especially true among celebrities. In the show, I will try to find someone who can really understand and like me.

And that might be difficult.

The premise is an obvious mirror of MTV’s “Paris Hilton: My New BFF,” as many netizens have pointed out, but In-young has acknowledged that “the show had many similarities with Hilton’s show, but I’m different from Paris Hilton because the show is about how I deal with people and make friends, there must be a difference that only I can create.”

Having been trademarked for her “frankness,” In-young is sure to be putting her potential “friends” through the ringer, which makes for entertaining television.

Good luck finding a real friend.

Suh In-young stars in her own show, “It City-Suh In-young goes shopping” on O’live TV.  The annoyingly nasaly voiced pop act shows viewers around the Lion city shopping and eating. But after watching her, I would rather just stay in Seoul and shop at the Dong-dae-moon night markets.

Yawn.

Not good for Singapore tourism.

Suh In-young’s nose appears be slightly swollen at the Levis bodywear launching on April 23^rd. After a week, the nose looks almost back to her pointy nose.  What happened? New nose or broken nose?

Casual brand, Mango had shut down its doors in Coex Mall to relaunch with a bigger store in the trendy Myongdong area on April 29th (the same area which houses Forever 21 and Zara). And of course, to get some press, you need to have a few celebrities show up. All they could muster was Suh In-young, Kim Jung-eun, Park Sol-mi and Kim Min-hee.

Let’s hope that Mango has some choice picks for the 2009 Summer Collection. We usually ge the short end of the fashion picks in Seoul.

Suh In-young’s lipgloss, “Water Shine” for Maybelline (Korea) is flying off the shelves. Fashionable girls in Korea are clamoring for the hot pink color, referring to it as “Suh In-young’s lipgloss.”  And of course, the U.S. based cosmetics giant is ecstatic about the sales and choosing the pop act for its face.

But the face alone will not get me to go near that lipstick no matter how many girls gush about it.
