Sung Yuri and Lee Jin will be competing for ratings through their upcoming dramas.

In “Swallow the sun,”(left)  Sung Yuri will be playing the lead female role as Lee Soo-hyun, a girl who moves to the United States to make a living after her family is left in poverty. And what kind of drama ensues a Korean girl? A love triangle of course! When she meets the son of a wealthy family (played by Lee Wan) and an orphan (played by Ji Sung), well… you see where I’m going with this, right? Lots of running after the other, and tears of course. Hopefully she doesn’t find out that the person she truly loves ends up being her long lost brother.

As for Lee Jin, she will be in a horror filled drama “Soul” as the girlfriend of a criminal psychoanalyst (played by Lee Seo Jin). The plot will focus on Lee Jin’s character as a girl who has a ghost living in her body who had been unfairly murdered.

Sung Yuri and Lee Jin’s dramas are on the opposite side of the spectrum as Sung Yuri’s SBS drama will focus on romance and Lee Jin’s drama centered around horror.

Will the two shows be based on the popularity of its’ leading lady or be more popular for the show itself? You be the judge. SBS drama “Swallow the Sun” will air on July 8th and play on Wednesdays and Thursdays, while Lee Jin’s MBC horror drama “Soul” will debut a month later in August on Wednesdays and Thursdays as well.

Now if we could only get Lee Hyori in a drama, this popularity contest would become a drama itself!

Huh?

You heard right. The former leader of South Africa, Nelson Mandela is prohibiting a love scene from being filmed for Sung Yuri and Ji-sung for their new drama, “Swallow the sun” (‘태양을 삼켜라). The two Korean stars want to film the scene at the Palace Hotel at the Sun City Resort on March 29th  but, unfortunately, Mandela is staying there. So for security reasons, the crew is prohibited to film.

The SBS drama, “Swallow the Sun” is expected to air sometime in July 2009.

Sung Yuri will star in a new drama, “Swallow the Sun” (loosely translated ‘태양을 삼켜라’). The 27 year old actress spoke with the press at the Convention Center in Jeju Island where her character is from. Also starring is Ji Sung in the male lead.

The 24 episode drama is expected to air on SBS in June 2009.

First Big Bang and now this.

If you have ever been to a concert in Korea, they are almost like variety shows with lots of guests.

Lee Hyori has called upon her girls, Sung Yuri, Lee Jin and Ok Ju-hyun from her ex-group, FINKL  to come together to perform at her first solo concert.  The 3 members have stepped up to the request and will be putting on a special performance for Hyori fans on December 19^th and 20th.

The pop diva released the news on her fan cafe on December 8^th.

FINKL will be coming together after 3 years since their 2005 single, “Forever”.

Koh Ara (aka “Ara”) looked fabulous in the floating chiffon creations by New York fashion designer, Jill Stuart. The 18 year old was the muse and main model for Jill Stuart 2009 Spring Collection, held at Kring Gallery in Daechidong on November 4th.

Other notable stars who attended the show were Kim Hye-soo who shielded her eyes with huge sunglasses from all those photographers trying to take a picture of her, a mature looking Sung Yuri and Wang Bitna who must have dipped into her daughter’s closet with the cutsey dress.

This is Jill Stuart’s first visit to Korea.

Costume requirements: Easy

So you have a bf or gf and don’t know what to wear? Why not wear the same outfit from head to toe like Jo In-sung and Sung Yuri. If someone asks, tell them you are a “couple from Korea”. Simple.

Idol group

Costume requirements: Medium

Have you always wanted to be an idol star with adoring fans who massage your butt? Well it’s not that difficult. All you have to do is to round up everyone you know (girls or boy). If you want to be this year’s hottest acts, SHINee or the Wondergirls, take note of the following costume guidelines:

SHINee
Two things: slim pants and bowl cuts. The pants must be pastel and must be tight enough squish your internal organs together. Also, can’t forget the bowl cut – a sign that you are “hip and happening.” And for the finishing touch, wear crazy fluorescent colored shoes. Oh, and you don’t have to be a guy…girls are ok too.

Wondergirls
To be the Wondergirls, you must have 4 other friends who look the same (not difficult if you had the same nose job, eye folds, and shaved jaw). Next, dig out all the leopard print from the back of your closet and wear it any which way you want, paired with jewel colored stockings. If you want to stand out, remember to wear a diaper, like Sohee (in chic leopard print, of course!) Also, choose someone you don’t like to wear the uglier version of the outfit (every group has one). Voila, you now have the look from the “So Hot” album. As an added bonus, find a random gorilla to play JYP!

Going trick-or-treating as couple? Then you should try going as ”We Got Married!”’s favorite couple, Seo In-Young and Crown J!

Ladies, cut your hair into a bowlcut (if you have one already- bonus!) and put on the most ridiculously skanky outfit you can find in your closet. After that, all you have to do is hit, embarrass and boss around your boyfriend like you are his mother. Oh and whine in a nasally voice….that’s it!

Guys, dress as “gangsta” as possible by wear a baseball cap, repeatedly yelling out, “L.A.” but somehow mysteriously represent Atlanta, and screaming “A!” with your fingers in an upside-down ‘V’ every time your girlfriend screams at you.

G-Dragon (Big Bang)

Costume requirements: Easy

To be like Mr. fashonista himself, G-dragon, the possibilities are endless. The easiest costume is just pretend you are a girl (check above). Wear dark eyeliner, get a few tattoos on your skinny forearms, wear t-shirts that say “I love sex” or wear all black with or without a fur cap.

Jae-joong (Dong-bang-shin-ki)

Costume requirements: Easy

If you are fortunate enough to have a concave chest, then take advantage of it! It’s super duper easy to be a member of idol group, Dong-bang-shin-ki with 800,000 fans! just open your shirt to expose your belly button, throw on a few thin chains, place one hand in your pant pocket (to look cool) and voila! Get ready for the mobs of girls chasing you down and calling out “oppa!”

Numero Magazine (Korea) has the right idea.

Instead of getting an American celebrity with a not-so-sparkling reputation, why not just slap a blond wig on a Korean celebrity- you know, let’s say, Sung Yuri?

The 27 year old is another virtually unrecognizable star in a magazine feature. Set on a desert backdrop near Los Angeles, the singer turned actress could easily be mistaken for a white person in the wig and washed out colors.

Sung Yuri has reached the ultimate beauty ideal in Korea-to look non-Korean. And did I mention, she looks fabulous?

Sung Yuri is the new face for clothing brand, “Viki.”  She is modeling the new fall 2008 collection. That’s the exciting part of the news. Actually, the only reason why this is even news is because Sung Yuri’s name is attached to it. That’s too bad for Sung Yuri, because the clothes should not see the light of day.

Clad in head to toe Gucci, Sung Yuri showed up at the Fall/Winter Collection for Gucci at W Hotel on August 08th 2008. Don’t know what it is, but the 27 year old is beginning to look a bit like Lee Hyori… coincidence? (More Gucci pictures on the way!)
