SuJu fans are killers

How far will die-hard fans go to keep their fantasies real? On June 5th, Lee Eun Ji, a middle schooler who lost 40kg in 3 months committed suicide. As in most suicide cases, the exact causes are unknown, but according to friends, the poor girl was tortured by Elves or SuJu fans after the picture she took with Kang In after a variety show Star King circulated online. Not only did they harassed the girl online, but these die-hard fans also found out her cell-phone number and left her horrifying message, which inevitably pushed her over to the edge.

What’s the big deal about taking a picture with one of the members? These celebs take pictures with hundreds of people, so why pick on this girl who worked so hard to loose the weight because it was her grandmother’s dying wish? When will die-hard fans realize that nobody will be understanding or forgiving of their irrational behaviors because they do it in name of love or is this just too much to ask?

Rest in peace Lee Eun Ji.

Korean fans are batshit crazy. Poor girl.

  2. 2 jane =] June 7, 2007 at 11:37 am

i heard about this from my friend today, i was going to tell you about it, popseoul! this is really crazy, some fans need to learn what a true fan is and stop torturing innocent people. i agree that the girl was pushed to the point where she was under a lot of pressure, but suicide is definetly not the right choice. there are so many suicides today caused by many reasons but ending your life does not solve the problem! anyways, rest in peace. and a message to the overcrazed fans: are you happy now?

  3. 3 Mai June 7, 2007 at 11:42 am

I think it should be kept in mind it wasn’t -just- the fans, though what they did was cruel. She probably didn’t have a great self image prior to all of this if her mom was nagging her to lose weight. I don’t expect very many people who are so overweight, with the criticisms they may face in their social lives, are entirely emotionally stable.

  4. 4 Hannah June 7, 2007 at 11:42 am

THIS IS TERRIBLE! but why would she be pressured after the photo was circulated..what were the fans angry about/their motivation to push her to the edge?

  5. 5 mei June 7, 2007 at 11:49 am

It’s a shame that it had to end that way. She was so strong to loose all that weight and suddenly fans just tear her apart for posing in a picture with a member of Suju? I say that she deserved that small gesture from Kang In for all her hard work!!

That’s just messed up. If I were those fans, I would have congratulated her and used her experience as inspiration. What should have given other people motivation turned into jealousy.

  6. 6 HL June 7, 2007 at 11:49 am

wow.. all that work to lose weight… what a waste of a human.

  7. 7 han June 7, 2007 at 11:51 am

i hope those crazy fans get to meet with kangin, take a picture with him, get threatening messages and end up killing themselves.

  8. 8 Licky C June 7, 2007 at 11:56 am

Poor girl. I hope the Elves feel guilty about this (not that they will, because they’re crazy)

Conclusion: never get on any Korean fans bad sides. Or never post pictures on the internet. Either works

  9. 9 Kiko June 7, 2007 at 11:58 am

Those Korean fans need a foot up their ass…>_>

My condolences to that girl’s family. She just took a picture with a famous person. I mean, what is the damn big deal? They should go after these fans and have them prosecuted-the officials.

  10. 10 xxcrazy_onex June 7, 2007 at 11:58 am

    netizens are pysco
there is no excuse for their behavior, they need to learn whats real, whats not, and whats never going to happy
they need to wake up to reality, and that is that their favorite stars dont even know who they are.

    RIP.

  11. 11 Matthew June 7, 2007 at 11:59 am

Hopefully the SuJu fans that did this to this girl will die in a horrible, painful way. Seriously, how retarded a girlfan can be? I know Korean girls are known for being “wild fans”, but this is just nonsense.

  12. 12 joleng_falleng June 7, 2007 at 12:04 pm

What in the world?? So does that mean that if you take pics with a famous Korean celebrity–like how FANS normally do, show it to your friends throught the net, and it accidentally gets seen by these “fans”, you get threats and torture instantly? Man, those Korean fans need to take a hold of themselves and start to think that stars are just human beings, not God.

  13. 13 lyn June 7, 2007 at 12:05 pm

WTF…Why would you even do that? Have these girls lost their minds? Is there more to this story? It can’t be as simple as taking a picture with a suju member and you get harassed. Was there a rumor that she was going out with him? I don’t get it.

  14. 14 setsu June 7, 2007 at 12:08 pm

    that’s beyond horrible, i can’t even come up with the words to describe how upsetting this is ;-;
whenever i hear about the things some fans do….i’m almost embarassed to be a super junior fan. i feel bad for the guys, because it must put alot of stress on them when their fans are behaving in such a way.

  15. 15 Narae June 7, 2007 at 12:24 pm

    people are so weak nowadays!

  16. 16 Mai June 7, 2007 at 12:25 pm

“Was there a rumor that she was going out with him?”

Even then, harassment is inexcusable, I think…

  17. 17 Eve June 7, 2007 at 12:26 pm

Oh my god ~ that’s crazy. I remember seeing this episode! Fans these days (esp in Korea) have seriously gone overboard. What do they think doing stuff like this will get them? I mean You’d think they’d look at it in their own shoes…I bet if any one of them got a nice picture with Kangin or any other Super Junior member they’d post it online…so would they be happy to be harassed? These people disgust me…I was actually going to join ELF when I got to Korea but yea I’m changing my mind.

  18. 18 sara June 7, 2007 at 12:29 pm

Damn!!this is big news, korean fans are freakin crazy..innocent girl killed herself because of that…poor girl…the fans are freakin retarded. kangin is human too,he’s famous and talented but still all of that 4 some pic being shown!!!he’s not some superman that saved the world….crazy…poor girl though…just some damn pic…are they going to torture every girl who gets a pic of their fav. artist/actor….

  19. 19 luvly June 7, 2007 at 12:29 pm

i wonder how suju feels about this?

  20. 20 sammy June 7, 2007 at 12:46 pm

“i hope those crazy fans get to meet with kangin, take a picture with him, get threatening messages and end up killing themselves.”
That might cause Kangin killing himself! poor them, they’re just hardworking people…

  21. 21 cosmicolor June 7, 2007 at 1:04 pm

I think that the subject of this post (Suji fans are killers) is a bit harsh, but that was a really vicious thing of the fans to do.

  22. 22 junsufan June 7, 2007 at 1:05 pm

SOME FANS ARE SO FREAKING STUPID!!..are they that stupid?? *feels like cussing* WTF??!! Do they know that Kangin would be terrible state too..I don’t get it..=.=

  24. 24 G-RI7EN's:SKY June 7, 2007 at 1:07 pm

    ah~~ that’s sad ]:
but i don’t understand how she committed suicide. What did she do? >

  25. 25 silverdeer June 7, 2007 at 1:11 pm

OMG thats horrible. what crazy jealous fans.. WTF? just cus she had a picture? plenty of suju fans have gotten pictures w/ them… like fansignings or something
thats just terrible.. i love superjunior but it just makes me so sad that humans in general could be so terrible and so jealous
    rest in peace eun ji

  26. 26 ed June 7, 2007 at 1:32 pm

that is pure bullying & harrassment. are the messages saved? could be evidence to bring some legal action against these teens. in america there are concerned parents organizing efforts to fight bullying. where are the parents in korea?

  27. 27 ed June 7, 2007 at 1:34 pm

and i wish some pop star (suju would be nice, in this case), would take a stand and speak out against bullying & suicide as the only way to cope. make an issue of it — or is it forbidden by their management to be associated with anything but a sexy fantasy image? break this damn terrible pattern!

  28. 28 reina June 7, 2007 at 1:36 pm

some fans or just stupid how can they treat bad these gril

  29. 29 maixee June 7, 2007 at 2:25 pm

Dang…I bet you anything all of the members of SuperJunior must feel terrible…I know I would…stupid fans…it was just a picture…

  30. 30 hanna June 7, 2007 at 2:56 pm

:( :( :( these things tear me apart….idols are “EVERYONE’S BOYFRIEND!!” :D so what’s wrong with taking a picture? i wonder if the maniacs are happy….it’s so messed up!! :(

  31. 31 vanessaly June 7, 2007 at 3:10 pm

ooo Sad. What was the big deal anyway, she just took a picture with a famous person. Not like she was his girlfriend! Seriously Korean female fans have to chill, they think they can own the stars or know them. But it is so obvious that these stars they like till dead, will eventually not be happy with this kind of crap. Before you know it nobody gets to get on the picture with a celeb. The gouverment won´t aloud it. RIP!

  32. 32 RockinAzn June 7, 2007 at 3:11 pm

aw. i feel do bad for her! those dumb bitches lost their minD1 they must have hella pics of suju on thier comp! i mean rly now! thise dumb whores..i hope suju does somethin bout this! i pray that eun ji will rest peacefully :[ i feel so bad for her! if i was there, then i would have helped her and kicked thoes korean asses (talkin bout the ones who bothered her. i pray for u eun ji.

  33. 33 ayara June 7, 2007 at 3:43 pm

I’ts so scary to see how much the power of jealousy (mixed with insanity) can do to people.

No wonder it’s hard for those Korean stars to have a decent girl as their girlfriends (the burden & responsibility is SO HEAVY).

Now I won’t be surprised if those Korean pop male stars (such as SuJu or TVXQ etc.) eventually ended up as Gay,coz their fans forced them to be that way.

Well, there are prices to pay in every aspect that human could achieve, including popularity & fame.

Poor girl, may her soul could rest in peace…

  34. 34 cstix June 7, 2007 at 3:51 pm

The subject line is a little too provocative, I think.

We don’t know the full story, so people shouldn’t be too quick to blame it all on the harrassing fans. That said, some of them really need to chill out and take a hard look at themselves. Poor girl.

  35. 35 amareally June 7, 2007 at 4:04 pm

the power of fans can build the star up, but can definitely bring shame to the stars because of their behavior…don’t they know that they’re putting Kang In to shame because of their behavior !!

  36. 36 nicole June 7, 2007 at 4:14 pm

Oh my fucking God. Those cruel suju fans crossed the line way more than enough. This is terrible. Wtf is wrong with them, have they lost their minds?! They are so fucked up.

  37. 37 val June 7, 2007 at 4:22 pm

May she rest in peace and to those who caused her so much pain, enough to do this, I hope that their conscience kills them

  38. 38 passionfruit June 7, 2007 at 4:32 pm

DANG~~!! that’s insane! Korean fans are plain o’ crazy…. if they have the power to make Rain #1 in Time’s online poll, then that’s enough to do something deadly as well. And yes, I am saying that fans of Rain, Se7en and other boy bands are all the same….

  39. 39 cstix June 7, 2007 at 5:19 pm

    @ passionfruit

    Uh… no, we’re not.

  40. 40 lindsey June 7, 2007 at 6:21 pm

this news is just so heartbreaking :[ i really cannot understand exactly why the suju fans would do that. i personally am a suju fan myself and sure i would be envious of eun ji but not to the point where harassing her enough to kill herself would be my solution! plus im not sure why the suju fans would want to do that to a young girl that is just like them as a suju fan. plus im pretty sure they would want to post a picture of themselves online if it was them who was in the picture with kangin. i’m not going to say that korean fans are crazy just that they should know when enough is enough.

~rest in peace lee eun ji~

  41. 41 kiwee June 7, 2007 at 6:36 pm

    that is beyond horrifying.

  44. 44 Gaek June 7, 2007 at 8:28 pm

Koreans are just nuts. The most lawless people in the world. Sad and embarrassed to be Korean at times.

  47. 47 kkes June 7, 2007 at 8:51 pm

    this is sad… Seriously..
to be able to loose 40kg in just 3 months..that’s so great (some of us aren’t able to loose 5 kg in 1 month).
And yet.. being harressed for taking a photo with someone you admire? - why?

These actions will only cause Suju stop being famous and loved…

    May she rest in peace

  48. 48 Cori June 7, 2007 at 10:09 pm

Wow. This is sickening, just sickening.

What kind of people are these self-proclaimed “Suju Fans”? Cos they’re definitely hurting the group more than helping them.

OMG. This is really horrible. To drive someone to the point of suicide is just mad.

  49. 49 Di June 7, 2007 at 10:25 pm

wat is with peoples these days ? poor girl. RIP

  50. 50 ILovePearls June 7, 2007 at 10:45 pm

I am pissed stupid fans I am a Suju fan too but of course if I saw a girl with him I would feel jealous too but its not like she is going to marry him or date him these “FANS” are really childish and stupid. I find them to be bit too crazy and look at her she was really determind and loved her grandma dearly to do this yes she did waste that time losing weight knowing she is deceased now. I think things could have been better and if any of those people who harassed her don’t feel sympathy then they are not real fans they are just people who have no life

  51. 51 bebetama June 7, 2007 at 11:49 pm

    OMG!! POOR GIRL

  52. 52 teabag June 8, 2007 at 12:14 am

  54. 54 Jenstar June 8, 2007 at 12:35 am

That’s crazy!! I’m such a big SUJU fan…but I’m not korean..don’t speak it or understand it but i wish someday to meet them! I don’t understand why they got mad at her for taking a picture with Kangin

  55. 55 shelshel June 8, 2007 at 12:55 am

RIP im a suju fan but seriously peeps real;y need to calm this shizzle down. omg i dont believe that fans can do such a thing. i love suju to bits but really it was a fing picture. i real;y dont know what to say. The guys who did this arent true fans cos if they were they would share the happiness of the girl who got the pic. Those who did this are bullies, out and out bullies. why would people do that to a fellow fan?
how can you mentally tortue someone like that?
hope that did this will suffer the consequences!!!!

  56. 56 mel. June 8, 2007 at 2:36 am

don’t u find the title of this article too harsh?
anyway. i’ve read abt this and it was discussed before that the negative msges from suju fans/anti fans might have contributed to her suicide, but still it was nt stated as the cause of her suicide. we dont know her personally, she might have other problems that led to her suicide. so why push the blame totally to suju fans? Yes, they’re at fault in bombing her with negative msges and all. but still, calling them killers, isnt it abit too harsh?

  57. 57 Gaek June 8, 2007 at 2:39 am

I guess Mel. was one of those fans who harassed the victim…

  58. 58 amabelle June 8, 2007 at 2:49 am

    dannnng. this is soooo upsetting.

Rest in peace Lee Eun Ji.

  62. 62 kotorichan June 8, 2007 at 3:36 am

    I’m so stouned.. that I couldn’t even believe what I read…

I mean.. we already know things crazy Anti fans could do.. but why do they have to release their anger upon a innocent girl.. who just took a picture with Kangin? I seriously cannot understand what they try to think…
The latest news says.. that her boyfriend has left her was also one of the reasons.. but that she received 10 messages a day is also true…
Hope she will rest in peace..

  63. 63 teabag June 8, 2007 at 4:10 am

Yesterday, there were approximately 80,000 views on her cyworld. tsk

  64. 64 Sachi4jay June 8, 2007 at 4:27 am

Feel really sorry for kangin after reading this article. Im sure he sort of feels a little bit responsible for this. Its such a shame that she was forced into such a situation and had to end her life. So young as well. How must her family feel.
Those suju fans should feel bad about themselves ~ what would motivate them to behave in such a way? Its not like she was going to marry him..
Ayara’s comment did make me laugh though, imagine if all the korean boybands do end up being gay. hehehe. noooo. that would be bad. aja aja jaejoong fighting!!!

  65. 65 Gaek June 8, 2007 at 4:42 am

    What’s her cyworld address?

  66. 66 suju 4 Life June 8, 2007 at 6:05 am

well…i hope she rest in peace^^

  67. 67 suju 4 Life June 8, 2007 at 6:10 am

oh and please sont say stuff about koreans….it hurts most of our feelings cause most of us are korean^^

  68. 68 Bicky June 8, 2007 at 7:09 am

Urgh thats such disgusting behavior. that poor girl i feel so sorry for her family Kangin must feel soo guilty…what happens when suju or kpop artists want to get married and have lives? will the same thing happen …

  69. 69 Anne June 8, 2007 at 7:10 am

Korean fans girls (mostly) are crazy. Seriously. They need to chill. I wonder what would happen if that was a girl from the States? How would the K-fans react? Tsk tsk. They have too much time on their hands.

  70. 70 mingzhu June 8, 2007 at 8:49 am

Oh my God.. that’s just horrible. I’m a SuJu fan and I can very well say not all of us are like that. It’s the more wrong-in-the-head fans who treat SuJu like they are their property that do that. These kind of fans make all Suju fans look bad. Aiyah.. I feel sorry for the girl’s family.. not to mention, what if one of the SuJu boys get a girlfriend.. I don’t want to know the fate of that poor soul.

  71. 71 Kkachi June 8, 2007 at 9:19 am

Has Kang-in commented on this subject. Perhaps he should quit Super Junior in memory of the girl. (Koreans aren’t that honorable, though.)

  72. 72 Gaek June 8, 2007 at 10:07 am

    Kkachi,

He should. But he obviously won’t, because, to quote you, “Koreans aren’t that honorable.”

  73. 73 Gaek June 8, 2007 at 10:23 am

I am curious though: Was the victim cute?

  74. 74 jane =] June 8, 2007 at 10:32 am

Gaek: i thought she looked really pretty. its amazing how she lost a ton of weight in a matter of 3 months and she has a cute-looking face.
Kkachi: if kangin left the group for one girl, then i bet you a bunch of crazy obsessed fangirls would kill themselves. so no, he shouldnt leave suju in memory of the girl, thats stuipid.

  75. 75 Gaek June 8, 2007 at 10:36 am

    Jane,

What’s her name–or Cyworld page address? Or any online address where I can look her up? Now I am very curious.

If she’s pretty, then why would she commit suicide though? I’d probably tell off these fanatics–”Haha, at the end of the day, I am pretty and you are not”–and laugh it off.

  76. 76 Little Kitty June 8, 2007 at 10:38 am

that is soo poor for her…May she rest in peace….and y does it have to be her, for die hard fan are little bit crazy, i think they need to know the cause of this case more, so they will not do it again

  77. 77 polynasian June 8, 2007 at 12:28 pm

I feel so bad for the girl. These Korean Girls need to get a reality check. I guess they were way to jealous and to went to far.

  78. 78 angelsky June 8, 2007 at 1:50 pm

    how did the girl died?

  79. 79 Terass June 8, 2007 at 5:49 pm

OMG…i cant believe fans would actually do something like that…
    it just doesnt seem possible..
i mean, im a big fan of suju..but im not a diehard..and ..poor girl =[
she put so much effort…and now shes gone…just because of a picture…
    does suju noe bout this.????
and yeah can someone tell me her cyworld.?? i want to see what she looks like…but i feel so sorry for her

  80. 80 Kkachi June 9, 2007 at 2:41 am

    Jane said:

if kangin left the group [because of the Internet-wangtta death of one] girl, then i bet you a bunch of crazy obsessed fangirls would kill themselves. so no, he shouldnt leave suju in memory of the girl, thats stupid.

    Kkachi replies:

That’s like saying that it’s better for a bunch of men to gang-rape a girl instead of staying home and masturbating.

  81. 81 Kkachi June 9, 2007 at 2:44 am

Maybe that’s too graphic, but these people have hounded this girl to death instead of writing love notes to Kang-in. It seems like the cyber equivalent of what I wrote above.

  82. 82 jane =] June 9, 2007 at 3:48 am

uh, Kkachi? what the hell are you talking about? there are many crazy obsessed fans out there that would kill themselves from devastation if kangin left super junior. even if this is hypothetical, why the hell would he leave the group because ONE girl killed herself, if A LOT more girls would die because he left? i never said that what the fans did were right, but what you suggested is unreasonable. and i agree with what everyone said. the fans did put more stress into her life, but thats not solely the reason why she ended her own life. people teased her and said she used weight loss pills to lose weight, and people have harassed her at school in the past. anyways, the so called fans are being bitches, i hope every single one of them are dying from their consciences. ANYWHO, heres a link to the actual picture from soompi —> http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/4214/c0bac1f6jubileoiq6.jpg

  83. 83 Kkachi June 9, 2007 at 9:52 am

    Jane,

It appears that you do not understand analogy, so I will have to explain this to you.

    Popseoul wrote:

“[t]he poor girl was tortured by Elves or SuJu fans after the picture she took with Kang In after a variety show Star King circulated online. Not only did they harass the girl online, but these die-hard fans also found out her cell-phone number and left her horrifying message, which inevitably pushed her to the edge.”

In other words, they harassed her to the point that she killed herself. My point with the analogy is that it would be better for the fans to cause their own deaths rather than gang up and cause the death of someone else. The analogy is perfectly correct.

    Kkachi

P.S. You said you hoped that they are “dying from their consciences”. “From their consciences” is not good enough. Frankly, I would rather they do kill themselves before causing the death of another person.

As long as these cowards can cyber-terrorize people, they will not feel any responsibility. It is the same feeling a person gets in a mob. As long as can feel anonymous in a crowd, they will never feel responsible.

  86. 86 jane =] June 9, 2007 at 12:10 pm

Kkachi, i dont understand why your trying to explain all this to me as if i dont get it. and quite frankly, i dont CARE about your opinions, you can think whatever you want. i wasnt trying to argue about anything else except for the fact that you said that kangin should leave suju “in honor to that girl”. & its not like i think that what the “fans” did were right, but that girl shouldnt have killed herself because of that. people have different ways to handle harassment and stress, and suicide isnt one of them. its people like you that make suicide seem reasonable and almost “acceptable” in these circumstances by pointing fingers at people like netizens and feeling sympathy towards her instead of wondering why she chose the decision of ending her own life in the first place. the suicide rate is increasing these days, and more suicides (especially from celebrities) influence others to make it seem like its ok to do. the netizens are bitches, but stop putting all the blame on them. they didnt physically kill her, she chose herself & made her OWN decision that she would end her own life.

  87. 87 mawee June 9, 2007 at 12:25 pm

OMG i seriously teared and i still cannot believe that this is actually happening the more posts i see about korean fans and anti-fans the more i get in shocked i mean how can people like this exist?! at the end of the day THEY R HUMAN!!! think abput all this the stars r happy when they meet theyre fans that support them because not long ago they were fans of celebrities too they r normal people they just get around the country and win more money doing something they like and they get extra happy when someone looks up to them these so called “fans”, [because sincerely they r not fans by doing this kind of things what if it was them in the picture they would b happy if it was them!!!], should know that they r hurting the star i mean he must feel guilty and the girl should not have commited suicide i dont support suicide at all but we must understand she must have been over the edge i do think she should have tried something else but then again she might have…RIP :(

  91. 91 Kkachi June 10, 2007 at 12:29 am

    Jane,

I have to comment on your message:

“People have different ways to handle harassment and stress, and suicide isnt one of them.”

The girl is dead. Obviously it is. It shouldn’t be, but it is.

“its people like you that make suicide seem reasonable and almost “acceptable” in these circumstances by pointing fingers at people like netizens”

No, it is YOU who seem to believe that it is acceptable for netizens to hound the girl. How is my blaming the netizens who drove her to suicide making suicide “acceptable”? You have a serious flaw in your logic.

[If you are going to throw my quotation back at me about my preferring that the fans kill themselves, ask yourself first whether you would have preferred Cho Seung-hee to have committed suicide, or to have gone on and killed the 34 people he did at Virginia Tech. I know the best case would have been for him to get help, but that appeared to fail, so which choice would you have preferred?]

“Stop putting all the blame on them. they didnt physically kill her, she chose herself & made her OWN decision that she would end her own life.”

This is the first sensible thing you have written in your post. She DID make her own choice, but to say that the netizens are not responsible is incredibly naive. I don’t know why you are being so contrary. You yourself wrote, “some fans need to learn what a true fan is and stop torturing innocent people”, so you clearly do understand that the netizens helped drive her to suicide.

Jane, are you being contrary because I suggested that Kang-in leave Super Junior to honor the girl? You said the result would be fan suicide. I do not approve of suicide, but I would prefer fans harm themselves than harm others. They can deal with the stress in their own way, just as you’ve said, and hopefully avoid suicide.

There is nothing stupid about my position. The only thing wrong appears to be that you don’t like it.

    Kkachi

P.S. You DO care about what I think. Otherwise you would not have taken the time to respond to me.

  92. 92 jane =] June 10, 2007 at 12:48 am

Kkachi, stop taking every one of my quotes and trying to analyze it. first, whoever said that i gave no responsibily to netizens who harassed her? if you look at my first post in this article, i never said it was right in any way. your the “naive” one, not looking at all the information and trying to change what im saying. i said “Stop putting all the blame on them”, as in dont put ALL the blame on them. their harassments HELPED her cause her own death, it didnt START it. your the one who is being “contrary”. first, you say that it was the netizens that drove her to suicide, and then you say that “they helped drive her to suicide”, which is exactly my point. they HELPED drive her to suicide.
i understand what your trying to saying, how you would rather have fans kill themselves rather than kill others. as i said already, they didnt kill her, she killed herself. Even though she could have ignored all the harssments and even though she had support from her friends, SHE killed HERSELF. now if some girls went up to her and physically killed her, this would be a totally different matter.

  93. 93 teabag June 10, 2007 at 3:55 am

Jane, you own this topic. Are you a relative of EunJi?

  94. 94 teabag June 10, 2007 at 3:58 am

    Another random question:

Should we blame SM Ent because they over-publicized SuJu?

  95. 95 KT June 10, 2007 at 5:38 am

Okay Everyone just needs to shut up.
I know this is really sad and all. I feel HORRIBLE that netizens would go so far as to push this poor girl to kill herself. They are all just jealous bitches. (Explains why Ok JuHyun from Finkl has so many antis)

    BUT EXCUSE ME.
    I’m a Korean Suju Fan.
    No scratch that.
    I’m a Korean fangirl.

But that doesn’t mean I’m going to go harass some girl and make her kill herself. That or I’m going to stalk the stars that I think are cute.

    I’m NOT crazy.
I don’t think I did anything to deserve to be yelled at just because I fit under the category of Korean and fangirl.

On top of that Korean fans aren’t the only crazy ones. There are plenty of crazies from other countries.

So excuse me if I’M being rude but DON’T think that all Korean Fangirls are the same. Because they are NOT all the same.

    Okay? Thanks.

  96. 96 KT June 10, 2007 at 5:52 am

    Oh BTW

    “Kkachi
    Jun 8th, 2007 at 9:19 am
Has Kang-in commented on this subject. Perhaps he should quit Super Junior in memory of the girl. (Koreans aren’t that honorable, though.)”

Excuse me. What the hell do you know?
First, it would be ridiculous for Kangin to leave Super Junior because it wasn’t even HIS fault. So what if he took a picture with her? It’s not his fault the fans blew this thing way out of proportion. So why should he have to leave Suju because of something his fans did?

Second, What gives you the right to label Koreans altogether? I’m Korean. I’m not honorable? WTF? Do you know me? Do you know all Koreans? NO. So STFU.

And btw this I’m not saying this just to Kkachi because there were a lot of other people who said crap about Koreans and about fangirls. I’m sorry to say this but you people are dumbasses. Please THINK before you speak.

  97. 97 pat June 10, 2007 at 10:07 am

this is horrible, those fans are crazy. i wish i could lose that many pounds too. But look at what 15 minutes of fame will do to you.

  98. 98 lipzx June 10, 2007 at 1:45 pm

im hearing so many things on this topic.. and one of them is about how kangin caused it.. well im just putting out my opinion. i dont think he did anything wrong. so yeah.. first of all i dont see how he is the cause of this… she did upon herself.. and second her classmates is the one that cause these thought to be put in her head….last but not least…i hope she is happy where she is r.i.p because nobody deserves to go through this kind of torture and pain by themselves…. they should seek some help if they are or anyone that is going through it right now.. its a serious matter to be handled with

  99. 99 Eun. June 10, 2007 at 4:42 pm

This happening should not in any way be blamed on Kangin or the music group. Kangin took a picture with a fan. That’s something he does every single day. And to abandon his dream because an unbalanced girl who committed an act based actions of others is just as irrational.

If there is to be any blame, it has to be on the victim (though the fans come in a close second.) She was the one who was insecure and weak enough to let people who don’t even know her affect her feelings. It’s harsher than it sounds, but the girl needed help. Probably long before she decided to take a picture with a celebtrity.

And all fangirls shouldn’t be categorized into this stereotyped image of illogical embodiments of love. Some know their limits and others don’t.

  100. 100 christaluvsdrama June 10, 2007 at 5:41 pm

Its very saddening to hear what happened to that little girl. I’m always ashamed when I actually come across “the wrong type of netizens”. Here you would assume the comments(this one particular)would be civil, but instead you don’t seem to realize that you’re contributing to what that little girl and many others would at their weakest points in life find reason to give it up. Everyone has their freedom to say what they want to say, but does that mean forget what its like to be a damn human being? I say that because, yes we’re all human, but do you actually act the same when you leave your desktops and laptops? Its like you don’t think before you speak(well write). I don’t know why many of us want to act as if your not flawed, but so quick to just PREJUDGE & STEREOTYPE others. Its never a general sense with people, on any topic, its better to point the ‘race finger’ because you would never want to look at it as yourself. Such a lack of empathy and sympathy. I’m not a fan of SuJu, meaning that I don’t dislike or like them. I’ve only heard of them.

Ps: Excuse my run-on sentences haha thats the way i like it lol

  101. 101 Kkachi June 10, 2007 at 8:08 pm

    Jane,

    1) Why shouldn’t I analyze your words? Your words represent your thoughts. They are the only things that represent you on this board. I can’t make you say anything different if the words I quote are your exact words.

    2) I initially wrote on this subject suggesting that Kang-in leave the group to honor the girl’s memory. You said it would be stupid because that would result in fan suicide.

You say that the fans didn’t kill the girl, but helped drive her to suicide. (You are arguing about the causes of suicide, by the way, which wasn’t the initial issue. That is why I think you are being contrary. The issue to me is the direction of harm. We’ve really been arguing at cross purposes.)

Well, if Kang-in left the group and a fan committed suicide, are you going to say that Kang-in’s leaving didn’t push the girl to kill herself?

    Kkachi

P.S. Jane, I realize that the fan harassment might be only one of the reasons for the girl to have killed herself, and that psychology is an inexact science. I also realize that we don’t have enough information about the suicide, like suicide notes or recent comments from the girl, to really make any judgments, so this entire argument is probably moot, but then again, the same thing could be said about Unee and Chung Da-bin.

P.P.S. Why are you not attacking Popseoul for the headline? You seem to have accepted that without question, yet you argue with me about the cause of the girl’s suicide. Odd.

  102. 102 jane =] June 10, 2007 at 10:39 pm

Kkachi, i refuse to respond with a long comment, because then you would respond with an equally longer essay, repeating the same the same words over and over again. but you seem to understand what im trying to say, and i somewhat understand your point of view as well. and as for attacking popseoul for the headline, there are plenty of others who already did. why should i waste my time doing that?

Gee. Just put yourself in the girl`s shoes.. kinda like ME AGAINST THE WORLD. what would you do if there`s some psycho fan girls harassing you on the internet, and you recieve mostly some hate mails and hate text messages probably hundreds a day since she took that picture with kangin? she`s already depressed from the pressure of losing weight and from the teasings from others that you only took weight-loss pills just to lsoe the weight, in school you get teased, when you open your computer there`s also teasings and you open your cellphone more tauntings and teases. every badwords and criticisms hurt, words stings more like physical pain. because if you abuse someone physically eventually the pain will go away sooner and the wounds heal still theres a scar that remains but abuse by means of words are etched in the mind forever. I`d rather be beaten up physically than hear or read bac things about me that`s most espicially untrue. you have to understand that the girl felt too weak and helpless and to end all she ended her life. whose responsible? am not pointing fingers but you have to reconsider what really drove her to the brink.
emphathy people, its what everyone should at least have.

    peace ^ ^

What in the world? How could these fans do this?? And just because of a picture?? Well, she deserved to be on a show and have her pic taken with KangIn because she actually deserved it! What’s wrong with getting what you deserve? But torturing an innocent young girl who did her best to lose weight? This is almost like a crime!

I mean, how’d they like it if they put in all their effort to lose THAT MUCH WEIGHT IN SUCH A SHORT TIME while enduring all the pressure given by the surrounding people, then finally getting to be on a famous show, meeting up with these famous idols, taking pictures with them, and then getting tortured until you’d want to commit suicide?? I’m a SuJu fan myself, and a really big one, but I wont do that!! I mean, I’d actually be happy to know that someone I know took a picture or met my idols! These fans that did this to the innocent girl are putting SuJu’s reputation in a bad situation.

Rest In Peace, Lee Eun Ji.

I don’t think it is fair to blame it all on the fans,
yes.. they are wrong but there is a high possibility that
they were just adding gasoline to a fire that has actually starts burning..

I’m a nutrition student, and if you guys wanna know,
depression due to severe dieting is really common,
when you’re not eating enough to supply daily blood glucose to your brain and other normal body system regulation,
it will definitely impair your cognitive function, cause hormone instability and so forth..
what i would advice is to reduce weight using a healthier method.
What’s the use of getting the body that you want at the expense of your life.
i feel sorry for the girl, but ppl need to realize that the reason why she became like that
is due to the pressure around her which puts so much emphasis on appearance.

  125. 125 kculture August 1, 2007 at 3:29 pm

Well, in all truth, SUJU ELF fans attack anyone who comes near any SUJU member, unless the person is more famous/popular than SUJU itself. Reason why they attack? Because someone who’s not anymore special than them is getting close to SUJU. Yes, some fans are mental cases.
But they (ELF fans) could have and should have been a little more sensitive to someone who’s body probably went through crazy changes + depression. Jesus Christ, that girl must have been really depressed having to deal with the dramatic weight loss… I hope her parents are alright…

That’s really sad and I’m Korean and all those fans I can’t believe it just because the way the girl looked all those viewers became jealous and drove that innocent sweet girl to end her life. Where’s the pride in that anyways?? that girl was a guest on the show KangIn was a guest judge he took a simple picture with her so big deal that doesn’t mean fans should start harassing her just because of a picture it’s like in their minds they all assume that a person HAS to be skinny in order to get attention or something I’m proud of this girls accomplishment and I pray for her family and her friends that lost her. These fans will do anything honestly E.L.F should know how to react to these types of things like they know what’s reality and what’s not. But if it were any die-hard SJ fan then of course they would do everything to get close I guess it just goes to show what jealousy can do to some people

i feel so sorry for the girl. i hope she rests in peace and leave this world without sorrow. May happiness bring her up to the heavens.

poor girl, she didn’t deserve this.
i think who ever bash her should feel really gulity
cos, there the ones who lead her to her death.
wooow, they should of put thereselves in her shoes
if they were her there proabbably go nuts cos there where on the show and i doubt there like what she went through.
this better not happen again, people should really think before they act, a girls life has been lost cos of people being jelous .
