Rain is back in Seoul!

0901-rain.jpg

Fan-proclaimed “world star,” Rain is back in town after hiding out in Germany while filming Speed Racer. Just like the way he handled the US concert fiasco, Rain’s airport attire was disappointing. From the waist up, Rain resembled a Midwest cowboy with his cowboy hat and oversized scarf, but from the waist down, he looked like a wannabe rocker with one lonely jean-chain.

What Rain will do in Korea remains to be seen but he already signed with Calvin Klein to be their next model, putting him in direct competition with Jo In Sung, the Levis Model.

  5. 5 teabag September 1, 2007 at 1:12 pm

What a surprise. No one knew he’s coming.

The scarf and hat won’t work. He looks fat.

  6. 6 Jay Li September 1, 2007 at 1:18 pm

  9. 9 ec September 1, 2007 at 2:03 pm

hope he does something to make up for the US concert fiasco-such a disappointment.

  10. 10 XiaoXi September 1, 2007 at 2:09 pm

I love the fedora (that’s NOT a cowboy hat). There’s just something about a tall guy in a fedora! :-) He’s not looking waif-thin, true, but I like that, too–and is there anyone out their with a finer fanny? Looking forward to seeing him in those CKs

    ok, /fangirl

    LoL!

  11. 11 Sunburnt September 1, 2007 at 2:14 pm

he looks like he’s doing the moonwalk in the last three pictures…

  12. 12 sang kyu September 1, 2007 at 2:25 pm

    LOL MOONWALK FTW!

  13. 13 Sunnydayz September 1, 2007 at 2:30 pm

it’s so surprising to me to see that korean stars still go through the airport like regular folks, i thought they would be a)totally mobbed by people or b)taking a private exit from their private jets. i couldn’t imagine seeing, for instance, Orlando Bloom cruising around the Seattle airport!

  14. 14 EunYoung September 1, 2007 at 2:31 pm

:) looks like he’s dancing really cute.. clothing.. reminds me of the bad fashion in some ep of fullhouse.. bleaah..

  15. 15 junsufan September 1, 2007 at 2:34 pm

    looking buff..
i only see guys..where are all the fangirls??

  16. 16 :-D September 1, 2007 at 2:37 pm

yeah seriously where are they? lol.
    Rain,,, that’s some werid outfit.
    but still
    <3333 Rain

  17. 17 @Sunnydayz September 1, 2007 at 2:52 pm

jeon doyeon was mobbed coming back from cannes. the press had a reason to hound her.

  18. 18 mackten September 1, 2007 at 3:15 pm

He does have a butt! Unlike some of these buffed up beefcakes: nice on top, but nothing on the bottom.

  19. 19 Tamira September 1, 2007 at 3:23 pm

I agree with teabags and he’s gain some weight. His has a little poochie stomach that sticks out and his butt is short and flat. Maybe it’s the jeans. I lost now.

Wow only guy fans…. interesting have the clouds grown up and found new younger idols, like the super juniors.

Has Rain gained more boy-boy fans. Hm….. Hm…. what were all the past blogs about Rain being Bi? Funny ha ha.

  20. 20 Yo! Rain's Back!! September 1, 2007 at 3:24 pm

Rain didn’t tell his fans and the press when he’s gonna be back in Seoul..

Actuallly, one article said that he’s gonna be back on 27th Aug.. but, he never showed up on that day…

So his fans couldn’t expect him to appear yesterday..
Just an hour before his arriving, they got to know he’s coming..

Luckily Just few fans could catch a glimpse of him.. lol..

  21. 21 Rain's Back - But late September 1, 2007 at 3:36 pm

Actually, Rain’s fan club was informed about his 27th Aug arrival and a big welcoming party was planned, but unfortunatley RAIN’s schedule was delayed.

Another welcome home party is being scheduled now.

  22. 22 song September 1, 2007 at 3:44 pm

i like rain a lot, looking at these photos it’s good that he’s gained muscle within the last couple years - however, he seems to be gaining some excess weight,if you compare him in love to kill versus i’m a cyborg, etc.

  23. 23 varms September 1, 2007 at 4:36 pm

He looks pretty good from the front in other picture… Kind of like a classy grunge look…with a fedora.

  24. 24 daneil September 1, 2007 at 4:49 pm

    he looks okay i guess

anywho whos the guy inyour new banner? i can’t make his face out… lee jun ki?

  25. 25 Wow September 1, 2007 at 5:20 pm

I like Rain. But homeboy needs to stop wearing tight pants. I can see he has 70 won of change in his pockets.

  26. 26 Dumpling September 1, 2007 at 8:50 pm

LMAO, I noticed the “one lonely chain” and cringed before I even read the text of this post. What a poser. He’s so fake. He bothers me.

  27. 27 chea September 1, 2007 at 9:27 pm

I would like to see how you dress up yourself since you critisize about others’ dress up all the time. =DDD

  28. 28 Aya September 1, 2007 at 9:47 pm

Sideburns. Its all in the sideburns. They are so masculine.

  29. 29 teabag September 1, 2007 at 9:49 pm

daniel. Yep, Thats Lee Jun Ki.

  30. 30 Aya September 1, 2007 at 9:51 pm

And Im telling you that pooch in his stomach only has to do with the angle, as for weight, highly doubtful. I am a model, I am pretty skinny but I still look fat sometimes if I wear poorly fitted shirts. His looks skinny still, when you have that much muscle, You dont really gain weight back that fast. It goes much slower.

  31. 31 bebe September 1, 2007 at 9:57 pm

its harsh criticizing stars for what they wear all the time
i think it’d be hard trying to dress well or up to the appeal of the public’s eye all the time.

jeez that’d be tiring. perhaps that’s why stars get so much stress sometimes because the public’s constantly watching them waiting for them to make some faulty error, like the clothes that they wear.

popseoul, how do you dress on a daily basis?
do you dress half as good as the stars you criticize so much do?

just wondering. no hard feelings here.

  32. 32 Dumpling September 1, 2007 at 10:11 pm

“popseoul, how do you dress on a daily basis?”

Oh boo-hoo, the fans are upset because PopSeoul doesn’t like Drizzle’s clothes. Childish! Get out of the kitchen if you can’t stand the heat.

  33. 33 gold glitter September 1, 2007 at 10:28 pm

he’s got some style.. i love his dance. sooo cool. lol

  34. 34 amused September 1, 2007 at 10:40 pm

I won’t be surprised if he really grew a tummy. He can gain weight in a few short weeks - he had a six-pack during Taiwan Rainy Day and when he was in Japan 3 weeks later - he had a huge ROLL.

He looks terribly messy. What’s with the hair, scarf, fedora and chain?? Can we have the neat and clean looking guy back??

  35. 35 jnyarcalas September 1, 2007 at 10:42 pm

So… he is back in seoul.

  36. 36 haha September 1, 2007 at 11:43 pm

even tho he covers himself w/ big shades and a hat, u’ll always know it’s Rain. he’s a tall korean man with a very nice fit body. can’t pass right by him w/o noticing.

  37. 37 esther September 1, 2007 at 11:56 pm

weird outfit, but he’s hot !!!! XD

  38. 38 Lilo September 2, 2007 at 1:02 am

why is he still wearing that bloody scarf??

  39. 39 Psycho September 2, 2007 at 1:38 am

    Popseoul!!

Why do you keep talking about him if you really don’t like him? huh!!

You are really a psychosis. LOL

  40. 40 Lynn September 2, 2007 at 1:55 am

You’re right on the spot haha.

Some stars just don’t know how to hide themselves completely, like what I should think they should do is stoop alittle, grow a long pony tail, but of course, Rain’s tall, so if I passed him on my way to the airport, which I think would (N)EVER happen, I’ll just glance, then wave lol.
And from the three photos, it does look like he gained some pooch, but my guess is, he just ate a bowl of bibimbap;)

About Aya’s post: I totally agree w/ you. People w/ muscles don’t tend to gain much, weight, but if they do, it’s just the muscles. FYI: the more muscles you have, the higher metabolism to burn fat you have..even when you sleep, you’ll still burn fat. And it’s difficult to try to gain fats, but if Rain wants to get chubby, all he has to do is eat the whole day w/o gettin up, sit and eat in front of the tv and within a month, you’ll get fat, JJH! Guaranteed!:D

Rain, I don’t ever think you’ll be chubby bc you’re always on the go.

  41. 41 yeli September 2, 2007 at 2:07 am

this is a random comment but i thought i would share with you all, especially since i read Popseoul’s comments that Rain doesn’t speak english when talking about him memorizing his lines for Speed Racer..

I found this clip on youtube of him doing an interview in ENGLISH (the video is about 2 years old) and he doesn’t sound that bad. He has a bit of a problem with pronunciation but you can completely understand what he is saying.(by the way, his voice sounds totally different and he moves a lot…haha)He was giving an interview about his first concert in Madison Square Garden. I imagine his english is much better by now, which leaves me wondering why he never speaks it for the media….WEEEEIRD

Maybe he wants to surprise ppl? hahahaha!!! or maybe he doesn’t feel confident enough?

Whatever it is, it made me less nervous to see the movie and his cross over to the english market…i was afraid his lack of english would get in way ….

anyways, here is the link, check it out if you care or for mere curiosity :D
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRf_S-Hjwws

  42. 42 yeli September 2, 2007 at 2:12 am

by the way, i am not a fan of his or hate him…but rather i am neutral when it comes to him (a lot of ppl dont seem to like him)

I just found that clip and remembered that many people here mentioned he can’t speak english, so i thought you might be interested in watching the clip :D

  43. 43 XiaoXi September 2, 2007 at 2:14 am

I wonder that, too: why doesn’t he use the English he knows???

I have to think that he doesn’t like to do things in public until he is perfect at them, and that includes English. He does seem like a perfectionist, and that can be a good thing. But with language, it is hard to get perfect without using it. Maybe that is why he hired an English-speaking bodyguard for his time in Germany.

I’m looking forward to being surprised by Rain’s English!

  44. 44 yeli September 2, 2007 at 2:14 am

    hahaha!!

    found another one…
    he sounds better here :D

He looks happy to be home and very very sexy!! I love this outfit and hope to see lots more ^__^ of him. Thanks for the pictures POPseoul

  46. 46 Dumpling September 2, 2007 at 3:07 am

“anyways, here is the link, check it out if you care or for mere curiosity”

Okay, THAT is the most embarassing thing I have witnessed in a very long time. It was so cringe-inducing that I couldn’t even finish–I stopped after how playing Madison was “a big honor to me” and that annoying thing he does with his mouth. What is WRONG with him? First of all, why all the moving around and licking his lips? Nervous? He should be, with english like this: “I have been a fan of many pop artists since young”. SINCE YOUNG? And I believe he is trying to speak BLACK American english as well–he’s trying to sound like Justin Timberlake and JT always sounds like a wanna-be hip-hopper. It definitely sounds like this is what Drizzle is trying to do–you can see it from how he’s moving around, too, trying to use “cool” hand gestures. It’s so pathetic. He has got to be the world’s biggest poser. When he starts talking about Michael Jackson you just KNOW Drizzle is an idiot. Nobody talks about MJ anymore–he’s a freakish pedophile.

  47. 47 Plinio September 2, 2007 at 3:22 am

    You realy hate the guy…

    (Caracas - Venezuela)

  48. 48 yeli September 2, 2007 at 4:09 am

    Dumpling, you are so harsh…haha!

But i have to admit that you are right about him trying to sound cool….

However, he is not the only one who does that when they try to speak english but do not know it so well…

I think it is because “cool” english is easier to speak than proper english..haha!

In any case, give the man a break…i bet he speaks better by now…I HOPE

  49. 49 Jane September 2, 2007 at 4:17 am

    oi…he’s losing my attention.
i just hope he redeems himself soon.

  50. 50 Kimi September 2, 2007 at 5:02 am

WTF? His English sounds like Sh*t.

If you are not aware he did a translator at the Speed Racer press con. So much for him understanding English there.

Honestly, I have no problem with the guy, I just hate in general when people praise blindly about things or lie just because they like someone. Fans do this all the time with Micky’s[DBSK] English. “Oh, his English sounds so good”. Umm, no it doesn’t. He can pronounce somethings while he can’t others. I don’t care if he lived in America he doesn’t now and hasn’t for awhile and it has greatly effected his English.

Sorry, that went into a rant. lol

  51. 51 michi September 2, 2007 at 6:21 am

what’s with the cowboy hat? first it was so ji sub ….and now, rain??

  52. 52 Meru September 2, 2007 at 7:39 am

I definitely agree with the post about his clothes. It looks like he pulled a “Britney” there. And then his english, it makes him sound like he’s memorizing a script and then practice pronouncing it in english, and therefore, makes him sound slow… I prefer it if he just speak in his terrible accent and have the caption on screen, at least he’ll sound natural and feel comfortable expressing himself in english more and more… not spitting out script.

Oh yea, there’s nothing wrong with idolizing MJ either. Not the current MJ, but y’know, before he became what he is now. He was an original pop legend and there are many famous Pop/R&B artists who drew inspiration from him.

  53. 53 Aya September 2, 2007 at 7:48 am

Dumpling, my twin and I think he sounds like a deaf guy in that video. The lolling I think. The other one is better, I think he’ll be just fine to perform in Speed Racer and Im glad communication wont be a barrier in our future relationship wahahaha

  54. 54 Big Pimpin' September 2, 2007 at 7:49 am

Rain is wearin’ one funny ass outfit ,i mean what de delio with dat close.

  55. 55 kky2k September 2, 2007 at 9:00 am

    Cowboy Up Ji Hoon!! AJA!

  56. 56 nguyen thi anh dao September 2, 2007 at 9:45 am

    welcom back!
i believe BI’s new film will be successful
ah , i feel heard to understand, how can they compare RAIN with JUSTIN TUMBERLAKE. I saw his video clips and i see he dance not well, he is shorter than RAIN , and rain look more attractive.
maybe, he is an american, so he is appreciated

  57. 57 excuse me September 2, 2007 at 9:49 am

sorry…if yall think this is bad fashion, I hate to image what YOU wear in public. BTW, Jihoon’s only going to be back to Seoul temporarily. soo..whee! Hey, Popseoul, since we’re talking about how Rain looks…surely you are going to post up Se7en’s lastest hairstyle, right?! It’s such a hot bashing item in Soompi right now.

  58. 58 minh September 2, 2007 at 10:13 am

nguyen thi anh dao are you crazy!!!!

raion cannot be compared to justin

justin has sold more alboms, dances better, and it way hotter than rain

    you must be on drugs

  59. 59 bebe September 2, 2007 at 10:26 am

dumpling, i am not a rain fan
and get out of the kitchen if you can’t stand the heat?

funny way of putting together words
you’re being a little hypocritical with me,
    don’t you think?

  60. 60 Kelly September 2, 2007 at 10:39 am

@ excuse me: Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Geez, quit with bashing people. Worry less what he looks like and be more concern about his career.

  61. 61 Rainy Feb's18th September 2, 2007 at 10:44 am

Wish I can be there to welcome him home!!!!

  62. 62 XiaoXi September 2, 2007 at 11:45 am

Meru, you may be able to forget what MJ did to innocent children (with or without the assistance of their horrible parents) but decent people don’t. The guy is a pervert.

  63. 63 Meru September 2, 2007 at 1:15 pm

XiaoXi, you may judge him based on what he is now, but you can’t deny that he was a good artist. I never deny that he’s not guilty of any of that stuff. My point was the last sentence on my previous comment. Decent people know how to read.

  64. 64 chea September 2, 2007 at 1:48 pm

dumpling, you’re realy too harsh. -.-’
you’re like popseoul wannabe. *rolls eyes* =)

  65. 65 XiaoXi September 2, 2007 at 2:56 pm

Sorry, Meru, I did read what you wrote. You say it is o.k. to idolize MJ, as long as you only idolize what he was before he became a monster. A neat trick, creating 2 people from a single person. MJ is MJ. Before I knew what he was I was a big fan. But now I do know who he is–I can’t pretend otherwise so that I can enjoy his early stuff. If you are able to turn off the part of your brain that recoils from evil, go right ahead, but that doesn’t make it right and it is wrong to encourage others to do so, too.

People say the same thing about JYP : “yeah, he’s freaky and pimps out kids to R Kelly, a known pedophile, but gee his music’s so good I’ll just conveniently ignore the rest.” Not me. I’ll fight against that forever.

Some things are more important than pop…aren’t they?

  66. 66 Dovey September 2, 2007 at 3:45 pm

What will he be doing next, I wonder.

  67. 67 kate September 2, 2007 at 4:25 pm

I think nothing’s wrong with his outfit. When I first saw the pictures all I noticed is his body and think he’s sexy.

  68. 68 Dumpling September 2, 2007 at 6:22 pm

“A neat trick, creating 2 people from a single person.”

True, that. I totally agree about MJ. Even though he had some “good ol’ days” I still feel that once you commit the acts that he has done it totally cancels out all previous successes. Sure, he was legendary in his earlier career–but being a pedophile trumps record sales. He disgusts me–the MJ now AND the MJ before–because I only see one person. A very screwed up, deviant person. People like Drizzle and Justin Timberlake make themselves look like fools for continuing to carry on about this creep, pretending that he isn’t what he is.

  69. 69 Dumpling September 2, 2007 at 6:23 pm

“dumpling, you’re realy too harsh. -.-’
    you’re like popseoul wannabe.”

Screw you. I don’t even know who PopSeoul is, you moron.

  70. 70 Dumpling September 2, 2007 at 6:25 pm

“you’re being a little hypocritical with me,
    don’t you think?”

No, not hypocritical at all–you were complaining about the owner of this blog, I wasn’t.

  71. 71 Dumpling September 2, 2007 at 6:29 pm

    @ Aya

Oh my goodness–you’re right about “sounds deaf”. I hadn’t thought of that. It’s kind of sad, right? He sounds deaf or retarded–I mean no disrespect to deaf or retarded people. Anyway, even though I don’t like him I really don’t mean to come down hard on him because his english isn’t fluent. It’s not that that bugs me, it’s the fake wanna-be hip hop english he’s trying so hard to speak–complete with hand gestures and lip-licking. Watch ANY interview with a rapper or a hip hopper and you will see the hand jive and the lip-licking. Drizzle is a desperate poser–that’s why I can’t stand him.

  72. 72 XiaoXi September 2, 2007 at 7:20 pm

I wonder if the affected way Rain was speaking English wasn’t at JYP’s insistance…I’ll tell you after I read that Vanity Fair article on the JYP talent factory, and the iron-fisted control he has over these desperate kids, it made me see Rain in a whole new light. I think so much of what we have seen of Rain, good and bad, was imposed by JYP.

I know there are a lot of folks here who think he shouldn’t have left JYPE, but I think Rain had no choice–I think he had to get away so he could take control of his own life.

It will be really interesting to see what direction Rain takes now that he is calling the shots. I admit, I am rooting for him (but that doesn’t mean I’ll think everything he does is wonderful–that doesn’t seem like true support, to me…).

  73. 73 JAY LI September 2, 2007 at 8:07 pm

People still can’t leave Rain alone, shit is hard being celebraty.

  74. 74 nguyen thi anh dao September 2, 2007 at 8:41 pm

Anybody have RAIN’s private website. i would like to contact him. Please give me if you know.
    Thanks so much

  75. 75 amused September 2, 2007 at 9:04 pm

He doesn’t have a “private website”. Previously, while he was still with JYPE, you could leave msgs on the JYPE website. Now, you can leave msgs for him here (you’ll need to register for a Daum ID before you can leave a message though)- most of it is in Korean :

    http://cafe.daum.net/RainWorld

  76. 76 Jane September 2, 2007 at 10:27 pm

I have to agree on Dumpling for the most part. I watched the interview and I -emphasis on I- was embarrassed for him.

  77. 77 Naqiyyah September 2, 2007 at 10:32 pm

He looks like So Ji Sub.. :D Must be the style i.e the hat and the hair. Heh.

  78. 78 TLflow September 2, 2007 at 10:36 pm

Hello? his outfit looks totally okay to me.. maybe his stay in Germany affected his sense of style because this outfit looks pretty much like the urban style some ppl like to wear.. btw i’m from Germany too

  79. 79 Dumpling September 2, 2007 at 10:49 pm

    “shit is hard being celebraty.”

Apparently, it’s even harder spelling it.

  80. 80 amused September 2, 2007 at 10:51 pm

I saw that video clip 1.5 years ago… and never finished watching it. My ears were burning up, I was cringing and if I could have shoved something in his mouth … I would. I was so embarrassed for him.

He doesn’t have a “private website”. Now, that he’s left JYPE, you can leave messages for him (but you’ll need to register for a Daum ID) at : http://cafe.daum.net/RainWorld

  81. 81 Dumpling September 2, 2007 at 10:57 pm

“I think he had to get away so he could take control of his own life.”

Personally–and this is purely my own theory and speculation–I think Drizzle wants to get the hell out of Korea. I really do. There is a seriously desperate edge to what he’s trying to accomplish in America. He is like a drowning man furiously doggy-paddling toward dry land. It’s almost like he naively believes that he CAN get there if he just learns the language and tries real hard to copy what he *perceives* to be what Americans want to see–and he perceives this to be in hip hop and R&B. He is NAIVE. He is CONTRIVED. But he can’t see that what he is trying so hard to become is the very thing that will make America hate him: just another poser. I think he believes if he can just make it in America he won’t have to depend on Korea, Korean fans, Korean management–Korean anything. I’m not saying he has something against his country–I believe he has his own personal reasons that may not come to light until much later down the road.

However, this is all a moot point because he is NEVER going to “make it” in America. It will blow up in his face.

  82. 82 Aya September 2, 2007 at 11:14 pm

He is trying to make it to America because he instinctively knows a beautiful raven haired woman with big green blue eyes and a pale complexion is waiting with a loving heart to marry him! (Thats me)

    See you soon Ji Hoon!

  83. 83 Meru September 2, 2007 at 11:57 pm

I see your argument, but I think they more idolize his work rather than the person. Sorry I didn’t make that clearer before. People screwed up all the time, does that mean the work they did wasn’t any good because of it? I’m not saying it’s ok to like the before but not the after, but maybe acknowledge the work, not the person. I’m sure there are artists who’s work you might but doesn’t realize they’re pretty messed up.

  84. 84 XiaoXi September 3, 2007 at 2:55 am

Dumpling: I agree with almost everything you said. There does seem to be a desperation and, if Rain doesn’t hook up with some real talent here, someone who can break him out of the 80s dance king thing, he won’t be the breakthrough he wants to be (though I think he can make a minor splash, but probably as an actor/model, maybe as a duet-singer, one-hit wonder).

Where I disagree is the reason behind the desperation. I don’t see him desperate to get out of Korea…from chiding a Korean-American actress for not visiting Korea more often, to insisting on Korean food when he is abroad, I get the sense he really loves his country. What have you seen that I’ve missed? (Though I do wonder what the heck he’s going to do about his mandatory military service…)

I think the desperation comes from promising his mother he would be #1, and that includes the US. I think he takes that really seriously.

I’m already on record as hoping he makes it, because I do like his voice and presence. But there are quite a few Asian stars I hope become well-known in the US.

  85. 85 XiaoXi September 3, 2007 at 3:07 am

Meru: I know you’re right. There are a lot of people that can separate a person’s work from the person’s personal failings (Woody Allen is another one of those guys I used to like and now can’t watch any of his stuff, new or old).

I was a huge fan of MJ, so I do appreciate what he had accomplished and can’t honestly now say that that work was all crap–his work didn’t change just because he disintegrated. But he did disintegrate in a way that makes him ineligible to be a member of decent society. So to me, all that good work goes down the tube with him. I have to change stations now, when his music come on…

  86. 86 Meru September 3, 2007 at 3:55 am

I definitely respect that, XiaoXi. I’m actually indifferent to MJ as well as Rain. I guess that implying that he’s always have been a pedophile and that he’s not redeemible as a person sounds too one-sided to me. I don’t think anyone who was inspired by his work is trying to promote hurting innocent little childern.

  87. 87 Kitsune September 3, 2007 at 4:17 am

    @Dumpling…
Are you sure that you don´t write Rain´s notices on PopSeoul?
you have a serious problem too

    About his “welcome” to Korea
    that was so fast
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=NwpjJru5IrM
really just people know it for coincidence!

    About his clothes
ohh you are E! Fashion Emergency?
he´s just a human who wanna go home
he has to be a model all the time?

    yeaah!
I have a bad english too, like Rain
but those interview in english are so old…
I want to see his english from now ^^
    I´m sure his better now

    and its true
MJ was the best on his time…
    like Elvis.

  88. 88 XiaoXi September 3, 2007 at 5:27 am

C’mon, Meru, I’m trying to intellectually honest here: because some people can separate out a person’s actions from the person and from the person’s other achievements (and just overlook, for example, something as heinous as sodomizing young boys) doesn’t mean those people are _promoting_ that person’s bad behavior and of course I didn’t imply anywhere that they are. I think there are a lot of people that just want to pretend that that stuff doesn’t happen so they don’t have to deal with it and they can go on enjoying their pop music, or whatever.

But I think it is wrong to overlook some bad deeds–well, actually, harming children is probably the only thing I believe really does make a person irredeemable.

But that’s me. If you can bebop to “Thriller” without a second thought to the lives MJ has ruined, you know, go ahead–and that will just be the world you have to live in.

I’ll just keep on changing the station (and caring more about damaged children than the great pop music I no longer can listen to)–that will be my world…

  89. 89 XiaoXi September 3, 2007 at 5:42 am

O.k., enough of the heavy stuff.

I would like to call attention to the second photo above: top, left: now, really, who has a finer backside than that? Love Rain or hate him, you have to admit the man fills a pair of jeans.

    :-)

  90. 90 XiaoXi September 3, 2007 at 5:43 am

Oops, sorry, it’s the top right photo that really does him justice. Ha!

  91. 91 Kitsune September 3, 2007 at 5:57 am

    in others words…
    you said
    “RAIN HAS A BUTT!”
    it´s that? XD

  92. 92 yeli September 3, 2007 at 7:35 am

uh…you guys do realize that those videos are OLD, right?

just wanted to remind you all cause there seems to be a lot of people who are bashing on his english….

    and, dang!
a lot of people sure don’t like him.

I have nothing against the guy so i will just wish him the best and that he will do ok in the US market…

oh, and about how he is dressed, give the man a break…
he was on a flight to get home, why does he have to dress like a model ALL the time? Please, i have seen worse…

  93. 93 Kitsune September 3, 2007 at 7:37 am

    yes… that I said too ^^

  94. 94 jjhero September 3, 2007 at 7:38 am

    Bi “hwaiting”!!!

  95. 95 Clair September 3, 2007 at 8:24 am

I think his clothes are fine. Not as bad as everyone is making them out to be.

His English on the other hand….O_o Those videos maybe old but the Speed Racer press con video on youtube is not. He needed a translator the entire time. Where is the improvement?

I hope people don’t think that in the few months he worked the movie he suddenly mastered English. Scripts are about memorization not fluency. And even though most in Germany can speak both English and German, they mostly speak German. So it wasn’t like he was immersed in the language.

  96. 96 minh September 3, 2007 at 9:19 am

i think rain has more anti-fans than fans

  97. 97 Meru September 3, 2007 at 10:48 am

I already said I respect your opinion and my indifference to him. I just don’t agree with the one-sided judgemental take on it.

So according to you, that’s the world Rain lives in, just bebopin to some Billy Jean on his way over to America without a second thought to the ruined lives of many youngster. Hey, whatever floats both your boats.

  98. 98 Dumpling September 3, 2007 at 10:51 am

    @ Kitsune

“you have a serious problem too”

I didn’t criticize his clothes, you nincompoop. I made ONE comment about his stupid “lonely jeans chain”. You need to try to keep up. I know your english isn’t so great, but try to concentrate on what’s going on around you before you make silly accusations.

  99. 99 Dumpling September 3, 2007 at 10:54 am

“Love Rain or hate him, you have to admit the man fills a pair of jeans.”

Yes, he does. I probably despise Drizzle more than anyone here but I would be (and have) the first to say he is a gorgeous guy. Unlike some people I never make fun of his “small eyes” and I have commented numerous times that I think he has a cute smile. I have also said he’s a damn good actor. See? Not everything I say about Drizzle is bad.

He’s still a moron and a clueless poser, though. But he’s foxy.

  100. 100 Charlie September 3, 2007 at 11:49 am

What kind of cowboys have you been looking at? It no way looks like a cowboy outfit.

Rain coldn’t be trying to look like someone from the USA…I’ve never seen anyone dressed like that.

    Cute hat, cute scarf…cute guy!!

  101. 101 Charlie September 3, 2007 at 11:57 am

    (Oh you think I can’t spell couldn’t?)

What do you mean he was hiding out in Germany? He was filming and he gave a lengthy interview while he was there. Try and get your facts straight!

  102. 102 XiaoXi September 3, 2007 at 1:15 pm

Yep, Meru, that appears to be the world Rain lives in. There’s a group of people that want more evidence of wrongdoing before they are willing to believe the worst about MJ–I personally know several and Rain appears to be one, too–and I actually respect that more than those who are certain MJ is a pedophile and just choose to overlook it.

I didn’t mean to be insulting about people that can separate the deeds from the man from the talent, just to comment that the world you get when you do that can end up pretty unpleasant. And that I can’t go there: if molesting innocent children doesn’t earn one’s disgust and total condemnation I can’t imagine what will…

None of this is meant personally to you, Meru–I agree with a lot of what you say, appreciate your civility, and think you’re just telling it like it is in the world, which I know is true, no matter how much I wish it weren’t.

Now, go enjoy the pictures! :-)

  103. 103 XiaoXi September 3, 2007 at 1:25 pm

Dumpling, I give you full props for being able to acknowledge Rain’s positives considering how much you dislike him–not an easy thing to do!

You may be right about him being a moron and a poseur–I’ll be willing to admit it upon a bit more evidence. But I am going to have to wait for the next chapter to unfold first. I have to see how much of that fake stuff (that I don’t care for either) was JYP’s doing and how much came from Rain.

It took a lot of courage (or stupidity, depending on who you believe) to break out on his own. I really respect him wanting to do that. Now I want to see what he does next. That will tell us all we need to know about who he really is. I hope you’ll hold out a little bit of a possibility for him till then…

And hey, if all he manages to do in the US is model, I’ll gobble up that eye candy! I’m really looking forward to those Calvin Klein ads…:-)

  104. 104 peepoo September 3, 2007 at 1:36 pm

give the guy a break, already! now that he’s done filming the movie (which i’m looking forward to seeing regardless if rain’s in it or not cuz i love speedracer) and is back in korea, let’s see how he gets his act together. give the guy a chance to do it, at least.

  105. 105 Rain's Back and Still Sexy! September 3, 2007 at 4:54 pm

    He looks fine!!!

Can’t wait to see his new CK CF!!

  106. 106 amused September 3, 2007 at 9:29 pm

Dumpling, you’re really harsh hahaha. But honest. Although I’m a fan, I agree that he’s a moron and a poseur (came to that conclusion this year after “analysing” his behaviour). Love everything else about him though.

I’ve always thought he doesn’t have much brain matter but he’s proved to be dumber than I thought ie. especially this USA dream. And his behaviour seems to be driven by this thought “I don’t want to make an ass outta myself and I have to maintain this world star facade “. Ironically, he’s proving his stupidity with his USA career plans!

  107. 107 ed September 3, 2007 at 9:35 pm

    did someone just coin “celeBRATy”?

    high-5!

  108. 108 Dumpling September 3, 2007 at 9:50 pm

“I’ve always thought he doesn’t have much brain matter”

My thoughts exactly. I honestly don’t think he’s very bright. That’s a lot of his problem right there.

  109. 109 Dumpling September 3, 2007 at 9:57 pm

“i think rain has more anti-fans than fans”

    Gee, I wonder why?

  110. 110 sandara-chan September 4, 2007 at 12:59 am

Rain, is not “world star” is THE WORLD STAR!
    oh of return!?
I like his clothes, he is perfect!

its raining in the entire world!!

    thanks for the news!

  111. 111 sandara-chan September 4, 2007 at 1:03 am

Rain is perfect boy n_n including his errors… is perfect

  112. 112 Dumpling September 4, 2007 at 1:55 am

“Rain, is not “world star” is THE WORLD STAR!”

Drizzle, is that you? Don’t you have better things to do with your time than posting anonymously about yourself on PopSeoul?

    (LOL)

  113. 113 Listen. September 4, 2007 at 2:51 am

Poor Rain, getting so much anti-fans because of the whole concert fiasco (and I’m sorry for those who lost their money as well)… the whole thing was just bad. But must it be brought up everytime Rain’s name pops up? My Gawd (I know, I know, this is YOUR site).

Here’s this Asian who’s trying to break into the Entertainment Industry of America - as a foreigner, a Korean foreigner.
    Is he ready? Maybe not.
    Is he trying? Most definitely.
    Does he work hard? Undeniably.
As naive as they seem (Se7en & Rain) to try to ‘make it’ in America, at least SOMEONE is trying! I mean, if they never try - then how will anyone ever know if an Asian can? It seems like the attitude going on is “An Asian trying to make it big? How dare they?! What’s wrong with staying here?!”
    I know… how dare they!
Whether they fail, make it, or even slightly made it as a ‘one-hit wonder’ at least THEY TRIED.

And I want to give them props, cuz it takes guts and it IS going to be extremely difficult. Humiliations, doubts, ridicules, etc to overcome - it takes a lot in a person.

And I like that fact that they are both 100% Asians. Yes, we have Asian stars in U.S. already, but they’re either
1)Not THAT big of a star,
    2)Only a % of Asian,
3)can expertly do some kind of martial arts

They both seem like good, decent guys. What’s wrong with cheering them on? Some may hate their music/acting, but at least keep in mind - at least they are trying. It’s not like they killing people!

And NO, that is not a cowboy hat Rain is wearing.

  114. 114 sandara-chan September 4, 2007 at 7:32 am

I do not have other thing better, because that the best thing is RAIN.
you say that to me?? when answers all the post’s of here xD,
you should read books, remembers …the whole world not is inside a PC.

The EUA (and others) hate the Asian ones … is for envy …? OMG!!!!

I add that not posting anonymous, u_U

    RAIN over the world!

    HERE!!! It’s raining… YeaaaH

  115. 115 Charlie September 4, 2007 at 8:01 am

I beg to differ that Rain is even close to dumb!..It is widely accepted that actors are smarter than most of us. The problem is that Rain seems to want to accept and tell people the things he can’t do. Like having problems remembering the words to songs as he dances when he first began performing, or not being a great student when he was in school.

Just try and do the things Rain has done and see how easy it is. Dumb no…he is just always trying to do even the things that are difficult for him, and sometimes he may even fail..which just makes him human like the rest of us.

It’s great that there are people like Rain who use the time they have to go for goals that most of us are too lazy to try for. While we sit around writing in blogs criticizing the people who do try.

  116. 116 noelinha September 4, 2007 at 8:26 am

sandara you are my idol!! I´m agree with all your words^^

  117. 117 peepoo September 4, 2007 at 11:33 am

“…people like Rain who use the time they have to go for goals that most of us are too lazy to try for. While we sit around writing in blogs criticizing the people who do try.”

i agree…but would add…not just lazy but scared to try. it’s easier to criticize others for trying to achieive something than to try to do it ourselves…such a sad human trait. although i’m skeptical of rain and se7en’s attempts (i don’t think americans are into that cheesy asian pop)…but i’m supportive of any asians who even make the attempt. b/c having family and friends in the industry, i know first hand how hard it is. so what if they fail…it’ll give others a foundation to build on and to learn from their mistakes.

  118. 118 peepoo September 4, 2007 at 11:39 am

  123. 123 amused September 5, 2007 at 12:40 am

Rain is very gifted in what he does ie. the dancing, the singing and yes, he tries very hard at acting. He pushes himself very hard and he’s a perfectionist.

But he sure as hell ain’t intelligent! I’ve been “religiously” following him for 2+ years and have read/heard (and not just from media reports!!) enough to know.

He can go and try out his American dream. However, he should be prepared to lose his Asian fanbase if he continues to ignore them. There are a lot of annoyed people who are just keeping quiet.

  124. 124 ashchronicles89 September 5, 2007 at 12:55 am

waa…i’ve been reading all the before comments..and i agree 100% with charlie and listen! i like rain and i do appreciate some of his efforts to make it big in america…it’s not easy ya know!

and it’s kinda hard not to become a poser in his situation..everybody(ok, maybe his fans) are looking up to him..wanting to know every single moves that he made..it’s hard to make everybody likes you~~and understand the decisions u make..

this is my first time posting here^^ i just cant sit quietly and read what ppl are saying about rain just like that..
and yeah,i do think jung ji hoon and rain are two different people..you cant expect him to be perfect all the time though..he can break down and make stupid decisions juz like all of us..

    so…..haeng-unul pimnida bi!!dont give up!

  125. 125 You Retards September 5, 2007 at 3:00 am

Just because Rain wants to attempt to make it in the U.S. - it doesn’t mean he’s abandoning or ignoring his Asian fans?! What kind of thinking is that? You can’t just stop being a fan of Rain just because his foot is on U.S. ground??! That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. There’s some people in the U.S. that became a fan of Rain - how the hell do you think THAT happened? Did they feel like they shouldn’t be fans cuz he’s “all the way” in Korea? No!
I mean, Britney, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, etc etc. still managed to gain fans out of the U.S. especially even in Asia. Did they abandon the U.S.? Ummm, no!

And why are people all of a sudden questioning his ‘intelligence’? I didn’t know we expected him to be a genius? So he’s probably not that smart. But is everyone? I mean, look at Britney Spears - she’s the dumbest of them all - but managed to become a HUGE and popular popstar (until her weirdest events lately).
Rain sings, acts, and dances… I don’t think it takes much BRAINS to do that - but some talent!

Yes, I have some doubt about his move to break into the U.S., but seriously… let him try. If we know the “whites” are gonna trash him, why the hell are we Asians giving them a headstart with it??!

He’s a “poser” or “cheesy wannabe”- well yeah it’s easy for people to say that. And it’s gonna be hard for people to overlook that (especially cuz he’s Asian -which is unusual to see an Asian hip-hop/pop/rock star). But Justin Timberlake was kinda like a poser, Eminem seemed like a poser to the popular black rap community, Usher seemed like he imitates (but actually is influenced by) Michael Jackson and James Brown… then along came Chris Brown… You guys get me?

“He doesn’t know English” - I agree with that part, he needs to be serious about mastering it more. But you know, English IS hard to learn especially if you’re a foreigner and it wasn’t that important/priority to learn in his country. But Shakira didn’t know English that well either when she first broke out in the U.S. - but she learned along the way.

Obviously I can’t stop those who hate from hating, but I just had to say something about it. Because some people’s bashing is just getting really ridiculous…

  126. 126 geekgirl September 5, 2007 at 3:01 am

WTF?? He thinks he can “hide” going through a public airport looking like that? If you really want to blend in, RAIN, lose the hat and the scarf. Those things only serve to attract attention and people will look at you like … WTF?

A scarf in the summer? Isn’t it a bit too hot for that?

  127. 127 Kelly September 5, 2007 at 3:01 am

@ Listen.: You make the most sense here.

  128. 128 geekgirl September 5, 2007 at 3:11 am

“And why are people all of a sudden questioning his ‘intelligence’? I didn’t know we expected him to be a genius? So he’s probably not that smart. But is everyone? I mean, look at Britney Spears - she’s the dumbest of them all - but managed to become a HUGE and popular popstar (until her weirdest events lately).
Rain sings, acts, and dances… I don’t think it takes much BRAINS to do that - but some talent!”

Ummm .. there’s a difference between being a celebrity and being famous because you’re a moron.

Brittney may be famous, but more because of her moronic behavior than anything else. Ditto Paris Hilton. But do you think it’s GOOD notoriety?

It’s one thing to be popular for being a great entertainer and quite another for being a chronic narcissistic person who craves attention.

Many Rain fans are young, and like Brittney Spears fans, will wander away eventually when the newest hot item comes along. Especially if Rain can’t keep up and expand upon the great marketing plan that JYPE had provided him.

  129. 129 You Retards September 5, 2007 at 3:23 am

    Geekgirl:
Obviously you didn’t get what I was really trying to say…

I don’t think Rain got famous because of him being dumb and his outrageous behavior (unlike Paris Hilton), wouldn’t you agree?
I just didn’t think bashing about his intelligence was necessary at all.
Yes, JYPE was a big part in bringing Rain to the top. But you can’t call him an idiot for leaving? There are probably reasons we don’t know about. Also, stars change record labels/managers/whatever-you-call-it sometimes… it happens. Maybe it was a bad move, maybe it was a good move… but bashing his intelligence? C’mon.

  130. 130 geekgirl September 5, 2007 at 6:01 am

I digress. So, maybe Rain isn’t dumb. I really wouldn’t know. I guess Brittney really isn’t dumb, either, because she became so famous singing lame songs about “Ooops, I Did It Again”.

Then she went on a downward spiral.

Yeah … no one really knows if Rain is dumb.

But … ahem … why call us Retards and you’re defending Rain’s intelligence? Isn’t that being somewhat … uh … hypocritical?

  131. 131 Anna September 5, 2007 at 6:06 am

Okay, everyone needs to calm down already.

You ever notice how the Rain topics at popseoul always draw a lot of posts? There are certainly a lot of strong feelings surrounding the man.

I think it will be very, very interesting to see what Rain does over the next year, on his own, without the JYPE machinery behind him.

I think then we will all have a truer measure of the the man, Jung Ji-hoon (just about the time he heads off for the Army…)

  135. 135 geekgirl September 5, 2007 at 6:30 am

Sorry, Anna. But if you don’t like reading it, you don’t have to.

It’s better than posting “junk” just for the sake of telling people to shut up.

    (ie. Anna)

  136. 136 Anna September 5, 2007 at 6:39 am

OMG, you just have to keep going huh? Well yes, I don’t have to read it. But also, you don’t have to always try to defend your points after points after points after points… (and you’re probably thinking “Then what is it that [I'm] doing right now? Hypocritical?) Whatever! You are the type of person who makes complicated things more complicated, huh? I don’t mean to offend you, but it’s a little annoying in how you MUST respond to a commentor with some snarky remark. I mean, I don’t say you are wrong with what you say. But
