We are sorry that Dragon Wars will open in the U.S.

Dragon-wars-movie-poster

Ex-comedian Hyung Rae-shim’s new wannabe Hollywood movie, D-Wars will be coming to a U.S. theater near you. I pray that the movie has been re-edited so that the storyline is not so choppy, the acting not so bad, the computer graphics not so fake, the war scene not so unnecessarily long, the story more believable and the CG monsters borrowed from the Lord of the Rings go back home. But I doubt it. Instead, D-wars has been been superficially re-packaged as “Dragon Wars” and a new poster has been made (Check above). No amount of cosmetic repackaging will help this movie.

Having said that, we, at POPSEOUL!, as representatives of Korea, apologize in advance to all those who will spend their hard earned American dollars to see such a disaster of a film.

Dragon Wars will hit 1500 screens too many on September 14th, 2007. Watch out for it and let us know what you think.

Thanks for the heads up, although I probably wouldn’t go watch this movie anyway. Haha
Hollywood must really be desperate for some $$. o_o

YES! Im so excited! The trailer was so laughable I said “Ohh my twin I wish this would come out in america so I can make fun of it”
    I AM SO HAPPY.

  4. 4 Stephie September 6, 2007 at 9:58 am

LOL. OMG, I think this looks like
    a replica of TRANSFORMERS, except
it’s dragons. The logo sounds, alike
    with the TRANSFORMERS one.

is the movie realli that bad?..well aniways..from the look of it..it doesnt seem so too interesting..hope it makes sum money..

The reptiles look kick-ass, and if you’re looking for meaningless action and nifty monsters that show up for no good reason (which I am totally okay with), then I think it’s promising. XDD I actually think I might go see it, if I can clear my schedule. Crappy movies are win, sometimes, if you’re bored or really desperate to procrastinate. *raises hand*

Thanks for the update. ;D I didn’t even know this was Hyung Rae-shim.

  7. 7 Jane September 6, 2007 at 10:30 am

i think they should’ve redesigned the movie poster..i have a feeling that world of warcraft fans will go watch it lol

  8. 8 geekgirl September 6, 2007 at 10:39 am

so I am wondering are there even any korean stars in here?? How much of korea is featured in the movie?

  10. 10 luminality September 6, 2007 at 10:55 am

dangggg they’re bringing it to america? oh man…this is gonna be really embarrassing for koreans. *sigh* after 30 minutes of watching i wanted to leave but couldn’t since i was with my family so i tried sleeping instead, but the sound was too loud…oh goodness, why doesn’t this ex-comedian guy realize how bad a movie it is and that he won’t expect anything good out of sending it to america?

  11. 11 Steph September 6, 2007 at 11:15 am

The Long of the Rings? Don’t you mean the Lord of the Rings? How much of Korea is actually featured in the movie? Only the legend about the monster, right?

  12. 12 ZenKimchi September 6, 2007 at 12:14 pm

Most of the people involved in making the movie were non-Koreans.

And this movie isn’t even bad in the “it’s so bad, it’s good” department. It’s no Rocky Horror. It’s no Showgirls. And it’s sacrilege to compare it to Transformers. Michael Bay is Orson Welles compared to Mr. Gagman Moviemaker.

    And I HATE Michael Bay.

This blog is amazing…a person/movie/clothing item is either really great or really sucks. There are no in betweens for the authors.

BTW, read this and see how all the money helps you.

I saw the commerical just eariler today. LOL I screeched at it going “D-Wars!!!? NO! All I’ve heard is that it’s BAD BAD BAD!” My brothers like o.0 and I told him about it~

  16. 16 Tewkewl September 6, 2007 at 1:45 pm

all the nationalist D-war trolls are all over Youtube and other media sites trying to tell the world how good this movie is… just because it’s korean. The only people who had any sense regarding this were the korean movie critics. they watched it and called it what it is. a piece of crap. there was a huge outcry against the critics (who, by profession, care about the quality of a movie – not where it was made) because of their honest assessment. this movie will be so embarrassing to koreans… please let’s campaign to have it pulled from theaters. we don’t need this film representing us. it will be like 1985 all over again when hyundai introduced their first piece of crap excel in the US! it took billions of dollars and 20 years to overcome the cheap poor quality car reputation!… shim is so self centered and proud of his exercise in mental masturbation that he doesn’t realise that other korean films are going be thought of as the 1985 hundai excels of the film world after the US populace sees this piece of sheeet.

    god help us!

  17. 17 kculture September 6, 2007 at 3:45 pm

    LOL. D-Wars makes me LAUGHHHH.

  18. 18 Maha September 6, 2007 at 7:33 pm

  19. 19 Aya September 6, 2007 at 10:38 pm

I already have 6 peoplersvped for the premiere date. The trailer alone was so bad its good. But then again, I thought (and so did my friends) that Snake on a Plane was really funny.
And so I will be there.
If anyone else is in the Arizona area, you should contact me, the group can never be too big. Unless we sell out the theatre.

  25. 25 aeia September 7, 2007 at 8:25 am

  27. 27 Jason Pak September 7, 2007 at 9:29 am

DRAGON WARS will be released in Limited Exhibition in the USA.

You’d think with the money they spent on making this film for the last five years and budgeting it at around $70 million AND the amount of TV commerical advertising this week, it would open more than 1500 theaters.

Have you seen the posters for this movie? They are only plastered at construction sites?!? At $70 million, they couldn’t afford large billboards or bustops advertising?

I think they know they have a flop on their hands (especially the fact it is opening up on a dead week of movie releases).

I’m spending my money on EASTERN PROMISES (with Naomi Watts and from the producers of THE HISTORY OF VIOLENCE) on September 14.

  28. 28 汚らしいサイト September 7, 2007 at 4:40 pm

I really hope those that maintain this trashy site do not actually think they represent Korea. I’m sure most Koreans would be ashamed to learn that this website was owned by anyone that associates themself with the Korean ethnicity.

    Korean have no culture!
    Don’t watch things about Korea!

  32. 32 mung September 7, 2007 at 6:45 pm

    Is this movie so bad?
If so, I think it will be an embarrassment to Korea?? actually I was thinking hard why Korean movie-maker makes this movie. I think monsters are kinda out-of-date.. But maybe it can be good too. who knows??

  33. 35 jnyarcalas September 8, 2007 at 5:45 am

OMG! I can’t wait! But I woder is it that great of a movie…

  34. 36 Leigh September 8, 2007 at 8:29 am

if u hate korea and its media so much, then can u tell me why u r on a korean media blog site? if u havent noticed, this web site is called popSEOUL.com. and Seoul happens to be in korea. everything here is related to korean media.

  36. 38 Brian September 9, 2007 at 9:59 am

I thought D-War was a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing it again here in America.

  37. 39 Looseleaf September 10, 2007 at 6:54 am

Look. If i’m going to watch a korean movie i’d want to watch an actual korean movie. In korean. With korean people. With a korean place being the place where the movie is set.

No one will know this movie was made in Korea i’m guessing… and it will just look like a bad American Movie. My thoughts. Discuss!
