Attendees of 2007 Asia Song Festival gathered yesterday to hold a press conference at Shila Hotel and embarrassingly none of the Korean groups showed their face. What a nice way to treat your guests who travelled so far to attend the event! We at POPSEOUL!, as representatives of Korea would like to formally apologize for DBSK, Lee Hyori, Super Junior, SG Wannabe and FT Island’s absences.
Pop diva A-mei (Taiwan) also looks like she belongs on Hooker Hill. The skimpy dress accessorized with fishnet stockings and red pumps don’t do justice to her gorgeous face.
F4 (Taiwan) Can’t complain about four well-dressed pretty boys. Too bad that they have to go back to Taiwan after the concert.
Golf & Mike (Thailand) must love shinny fabrics…
Gigi Leung’s (HK) tall figure and sassy hair support her mico mini, but her boots totally killed the look. Sexy pumps might have done the trick.
Kuraki Mai’s (Japan) curtain hair and waitress outfit make me forget that she’s a top singer in Japan.
Peterpan (Indonesia) Please excuse my lack of knowledge of this rock band, but can someone please tell the guys in navy shorts and shirt that ankle socks are now available for sale? While you are at it, gently tell him that his 9:1 ratio hairpart is way too unnatural. But love the name of the band!
Lam Truong (Vietnam) looks more like a manager than a singer.

I believe TVXQ was performing in Japan earlier in the day so they actually had a valid reason for not being able to get to Korea earlier. I don’t know about the others.

DBSK flew from Japan after the premium event[WHICH WAS AS AMAZING AS THE FESTIVAL] and reached there at 4..u can’t blame them..blame their schedule..whereas for the others who were at Korea at that time..i have no idea..

it was free for everyone as far as i know…. there was a payed option and if you payed you got to be a VIP with a guaranteed seat number in the front… but other than that you applied online and got free tickets and unless you were fanclub (ft, cassiopeia, elf & some hyolee fans i noticed but i think there was a section for the f4 fanclub in korea too) you just got a seat as you came and basically rushed to get the best seat… we queued from like 9am and were just behind the payed section foreigners and non paying VIP (not sure how that works) got the whole floor section just behind the people who payed then most koreans who weren’t fanclub members got the second teir (i can’t spell but you know what i mean) but they were mainly suju and dbsk fans who aren’t in cassiopeia and elf and the whole third teir was fanclub, a tiny section of hyolee and then the ft fans (they’ve come a long way really really quick) then suju took up a big section and cassiopeia practically filled up a third of the entire 3rd teir
like i said before it was amazing even if it rained…. it was an open air stadium and you were basically forced to buy raincoats since staff made you take umbrellas down even in the payed section

Although in the Korean artists’ defense: strictly manufactured groups such as DBSK and Super Junior don’t arrange their own schedules, do they? Doesn’t management or some other SM Entertainment rep do that? I was under the impression that SME groups are pretty much shoved around to this venue or that, and that they had no real control over their actual activities. So isn’t it more directly the management’s fault (or whoever puts together their schedules)?

yup. DBSK had a performance in Japan and so flight arrangements didn’t allow them to get there in time so it’s definitely not their fault. Give the boys a break…they’re schedule is backbreaking. I can’t criticize or defend the other celebrity groups though because I simply don’t know what they might have been doing or their excuses.
Popseoul, could you maybe write an article about the excuses or locations of the no-shows? So then maybe we can decide for ourselves whether or not they should have been excused instead of just getting an opinionated perspective without more facts. Thanks.

SM managers does almost everything for publicity, but yet, they missed out on this one. I just think it’s plain disrespectful. Speaking on behalf of Peterpan’s supporter. I’m singaporean and have been following the band. Its really nice to know that they have been invited. Well I guess dressing shouldnt be an issue since they have their originality rather than dressing up formally which is so not them. its talents that counts to my own views. Its always the case isnt it for asian artist about dressing and yet when it comes to international everyone just keeps mum about it. U guys should listen to the band on youtube or buy the cd. Its worth ur money I gurantee u. The Indonesian band Peter Pan rocks! Doesn’t really matter to me if they weren’t all dressed up, it’s the music that matters more. They’re pretty popular in Malaysia. Anyway, I think being poorly dressed is not as rude to the occasion as non-present Korean artistes.

I’m not the fan of Peterpan, but i khow this band is so famous, not only in Indonesia, but in Malaysia and singapore too!!! This group band is the one who had released their new album in 5 TV channels and 3 countries in one day. They have big fans in 3 countries : Malaysia, Singapore & Indonesia. You guys should watch their video or listen their songs, just don’t jugde them by what they wear.

Although it was a disappointment that none of the Korean representatives showed for the Press Conference–perhaps there was a valid reason?
Like someone suggested earlier, it would have been nice if you were able to say why certain groups were unable to attend. It’s practically mudslinging when you say ’so and so’ didn’t come because they’re stuck up when the truth of the matter is very different.
I think I enjoyed reading the comments more than the actual article, though this article was more informative than the one directly on the Asia Song Festival Concert.

I’m surprised to know Peterpan has so many fans from many countries. What makes them different from other bands in that event is they’re not typical boyband. They are the band with the real talents and skills. For those who don’t know about Peterpan, just type Peterpan Indonesia in youtube and you will see they have a lot of hit songs. Their songs give strong impression to people who listen to them. A malaysian band even went so far into making the English version of Peterpan’s song. And a famous music director in India plagiarised one of Peterpan’s song to put in his films. It became no.1 hit in India. Many Indians said it’s the best Indian song ever, until they found out that it was copied from Peterpan’s song.
Search for Peterpan in Wikipedia and you’ll know how great they are.

Peterpan is band from indonesia and popular in south Asia(Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapura and Brunei may be in Philipine).
I knew this band when i saw Asian Idol and this band sing a song which very popular in India. I just knew if india version is Copy from Peterpen’s Song.
