JYP wants you to lower your expectations for Rain

20071213_jyp

Best dressed producer/singer, JYP wants everybody to lower expectations for Rain. According to JYP, since Rain is a newbie businessman and relatively new actor, we all should give Rain (Bi) a break because everybody makes mistakes when they start out. JYP also added that he personally advised Rain to lower his expectations for himself and just take it one step at a time.

JYP is right. We should just all lower expectations for Rain, so we are not easily disappointed after Rain’s dumb mistakes and I was also right. JYP is still the Brain and Rain the Pinky.

and eventually people will see what kind of a person you truly are..

so what if jyp wants to associate himself with drizzle? he was his mentor and from what i understand, they’re not on bad terms, so why can’t he give drizzle advice?

even if he is trying to make a buck off of a falling star, it’s not like he’s the only one out there doing it.

failure or not, he’s making hella a lot of money. even more than JYP if I may say so.

I kind of agree with jak, there is really no point in acussing JYP of this or that, i know some of you are his fans and loyal to him but that doesn’t mean you have to accuse JYP to support the artist, he created Rain and Rain decided to leave on his own, now the mistakes he makes are his responsibility.

I don’t think Rain failing will have anything to do with JYP but I would be lying if I said it isn’t a possibility.

Also the thing is cracking a new market is like a crapshoot. Rain could do everything right and still not make it huge in the US. That is just reality. A lot of it has to do with luck and economics.

There are a lot of talented people putting out stellar albums that don’t even touch the charts

  6. 6 vicky December 13, 2007 at 7:44 am

JYP himself pushed Rain towards the US market and inflated ppl’s expectations.

It’s like a set-up. Brain won’t Pinky leave without having him stumbling for a bit.

I’d have liked to see Rain stay with JYP for another 2-3 years and see how his promised US career develops.

YUM. Rain should always always unbuttoned his shirts or go without them. Delish!
I better order my Speed Racer Taejo action figure, STAT.

I know a bunch who are even dumber than Rain. Some of his (blind) fans. They really think he is still famous and on top of everyone else. Some have accused JYP of wanting attention to sell his album cos the name Rain sells everywhere. And they defend Rain by saying that he has changed (since 6 months ago). Wow – like they know Ji Hoon personally and they are experts in the music field. Hahahaha.

Oh please! I have so many Japan friends (who are fans!) and they tell me he’s virtually unknown in Japan.

These dumb asses need more coffee than Rain.

JYP looks like a animated wild boar in that picture! Ha Ha

JYP was the man behind Rain’s success. JYP took a chance w/him when nobody else in the industry would simply cuz he wasn’t good looking enough. Under JYP’s management, he continued his private music studies w/other music major influences (initially, J.Lim worked w/Rain to improve his vocal skills). JYP made good business sense when he encouraged Rain to act. JYP wrote & produced hit songs which won Rain a variety of accolades in ‘04. With all due respect, JYP opened up a window of opportunities for Rain; BUT in all fairness, let’s give Rain the credit he deserves too. Rain worked hard to achieve success. JYP did not come along & handed him a golden spoon w/a lot of gravy in it. If JYP was such a miraculous producer, then why aren’t the rest of Rain’s former colleagues (J.lim, god, byul, etc) equally well known & loved across Asia? Rain is indeed a hard worker; he’s the epitome of self-will, discipline, dedication & commitment to purpose. This kid possesses a boyish charm, good looks & endless energy. He has an undeniable charisma (a trait that’s arguably 50% innate). Whenever he steps onto the stage, he does his best job of playing to the crowd, displaying excellent stage presence, aura & showmanship. But we all know that hard work & charms don’t always equate to guarantee success. If that was true, then the world would be filthy rich. Have a go at being a cynic if your heart’s desire, but Rain has real talent. Rain is who/what he is today due to his all-around talent (singing, dancing, acting). Yes, I believe JYP made Rain AND vice versa. Without Rain, JYP can’t be the music mogul millionaires that he is today. I like to believe that JYP’s truly grateful to him for Rain was his best prodigy. His advice to Rain is really a nice gesture. Business successes do not magically appeared overnight (i’m certain it wasn’t easy for JYP in the beginning); there is bound to be some trial & error. So give Rain time to prove himself. As for his career advances in the US — his future may be uncertain, but as long as he never gives up hopes & dreams (most of u would like to see him leave with his tail between his legs) he has a 50-50 shot of making it, whereas if he stop striving for his dreams/goals now his chance is a definite zero. And so what if he eventually fails to make any real impact in the US? His fans will still be proud of his endless efforts & accomplishments.

“All JYP is saying to his boyfriend in a nice way is, ‘I TOLD YA SO!” Hey, it’s a lover’s spat”

I love all these boyfriend/girlfriend (or boyfriend/boyfriend, depending on how u perceive it) references !

  13. 13 fraulein December 13, 2007 at 2:31 pm

I recall a TRL episode back Jan/Feb 2005 where JYP and Rain appeared on. JYP said something about creating a wholesome artiste who is real & ppl can connect to. I think he said something along the lines of, if you are fake, ppl will know it. You can’t fool all of the ppl all of the time. If you are fake, it’ll (time) show. What you see is what you get, ie the real Rain.

I miss those days when he tried to keep it real, unlike the BS he spouts these days, whether or not he’s getting the cushion ready for Rain to fall on when he flops.

Ladida posted the best comment (Dec 13 @ 1:00pm)I have read in a long long time. I think even rain detractors will agree with some of what he/she said

    Well said, Ladida !! ; )

  15. 15 fraulein December 13, 2007 at 2:46 pm

I agree the guy gives his best in playing to the crowd. When he was here in Singapore, he threw a diva’ish fit to the media, almost refused to smile to for the cameras (his manager blamed the broken arm he sustained a week ago in HK for the bad mood) and generally acted like a spoilt brat.

But when evening came, he morph’ed into the consummate /charismatic performer we have all come to know and played to the crowd, cooing “my babies” and all ; prompting the media to say ” the boy surely knows which side his bread is buttered on “

  16. 16 Joan December 13, 2007 at 4:32 pm

ladida you make a valid point and I whole heartly agree with you. I don’t see what the problem is with Rain trying to make it in the US. You’ll never know if you don’t try. And besides he is mostly a positive thinker, that being said good things will come his way if he keeps it up. :)

  17. 17 choo December 13, 2007 at 5:54 pm

People say they’re still in good terms, so I guess that’s advice is taken in a good way.

Maybe the reason some people are having doubts about his intention is that during the time when Rain didn’t renew his contract, JYP was saying almost negative things about Rain. Then, when he resumed his work in Korea, he’s saying this and that about Rain. You really have to admit it, anything about Rain gets attention in Korea.

Hmm, the more i think abt it, the more it looks like a lovers’ spat.

Bi is busy trying to establish himself in the states and JYP who has been based there for the past few yrs comes back to korea to produce Wonder Girls and launch that “dirty dirty south ” collaboration for J Lim

It appears to me he doesnt want to be on the same continent as his ex girlfriend (or boyfriend) !

    Ha ha

  21. 21 aquarious December 14, 2007 at 6:23 am

    Sasha… 0_0 wowwww…. that’s cool.

    About the topic,

I wonder if Rain is still under JYPE, would he suggest the same thing to take things slowly (or) make Rain work his butt off???
I’m sure he’ll make sure not to put pressure on Rain and totally have low expectation…

    irony…..

  22. 22 noodles December 14, 2007 at 7:52 am

Totally agree with ladida and aquarious. Well said.

Hmm… that’s interesting advice. Well why do we have to “lower our expectations” for him, in order for us not to be disappointed in him if he screws up? I expect him to do well, ‘cause he works his arse off. I also expect him to mess up sometimes, cause he’s human.

Not only lowered my expectations, but also changed my expectations for the “New Rain” after watching this!! Rain wearing a shirt with big ” naked boobs”.

  27. 27 aquarious December 18, 2007 at 12:50 pm

That’s strange. How come Popseoul did not bash Rain for that picture???
Something is seriously wrong with Popseoul (or) maybe Popseoul can’t catch up with Rain anymore…

    LOL…

  28. 28 narae January 11, 2008 at 7:47 pm

i figure he should maintain his high expectations, just not tell anyone about them, so we won’t know what to expect
after all, if you shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you still land in the stars (when physics doesn’t get in your way)

  29. 29 Jung HyeHoon August 26, 2008 at 11:43 pm

    it’s like a deja vu
isn’t this what full house predicted for Rain
only the details are different lol
