The “Proud Korean Awards were held by the Journalist Federation of Korea on December 28th 2007. As the name implies, 14 individuals were recognized for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields.
Andre “Alien” Kim snapped up an award for his other worldly fashions. Although his other-worldly fashions is less than palatable, his influence to make no names into stars cannot be denied (think Won Bin). However, if the awards were for “best” fashion designer, then the painted head would not be a contender.
The other award winner is JYP for his contribution to Korean culture. Was it his role as producer or singer that got him the award? Either way, if we look at his contribution to the music industry with a discerning eye, he promoted under aged girls in school outfits to dance in a seductive way, he teamed up with a pedophile & R&B singer/producer R. Kelly, and he released a new album this year while putting on hold the careers of the up and coming stars (i.e. Min and G-Soul) to satisfy his own insatiable hunger as a media whore. That’s JYP in a nutshell.
So with Andre the Alien representing the cutting-edge fashions of Korea and JYP’s overtly sexualized contribution to Korean culture, we can all sleep well at night.
Jeon Do-yeon (below) also won a “Proud Korean Award” for her contribution to the movie industry (acting). I guess it’s a nod to her best actress win at Cannes 2007 for her role in Secret Sunshine.

Sakujo, yes, R Kelly is a great producer/songwriter but he faces child pornography charges for allegedly videotaping sex acts with a young teenage girl. This is completely disgusting in my books.
