Rain is a shadow of his former self in braids and a headband for the newest Samsung Anycall’s mobile phone ad campaign befittingly called “Anydream” (previous ad campaigns were “Anystar,” & “Anyband.”). “Anydream” is the official song for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics by the electronics giant and official sponsor, Samsung. The music video features our man in various hairstyles training his crew of dancers for battle against the B-boys in a dance competition.
In the music video/commercial-extravaganza, Rain and his dance crew get served in a dance-off complete with crumping, popping, shirt-ripping, and symmetrical v-shaped dance formations. To make matters worse, Rain’s crew members ditch him afterwards.
Our ever-resourceful Rain sets out to compete in the Any Dream dance contest and resolves to train a sorry bunch of misfits into becoming dancers extraordinaries (with the help of the latest Samsung technology, of course).
Not only is this music video/commercial-extravaganza a promotional vehicle for gangsta-ninja attire, kooky hair, and Samsung phones, it is also a thinly disguised parable of how Rain began JTune Entertainment with the intention to audition hopefuls to superstardom and conquer the US.

The music video will be released in China and Hong Kong in the beginning of April 2008.

Samsung is treating Chinese as if they are retards, they are using Rain as though he’s the only Korean person they know and let him rape their language, lead them to win a stupid dance-off. It’s a dumb move to try to make Korea better than whoever at their home turf. How rude.

i really don’t get this ‘korean representation’ of CHINESE olympics thing. If samsung wants to market its products, why do it under the name of olympics? China already has a heap load of promotional ads for olympics with CHINESE celebrities, take Liu Xiang as an example, hez actually an ATHLETE. And all that ‘Any—’ stuff needs to go. Its Chinese olympics, not korean. If samsung wants to make a fortune in china, NOW is not the time. People who don’t know rain will start believing that hez chinese, despite his ‘chin-rean’. Its really misleading. Samsung, go find your spotlight somewhere else.

As for the MV I watched it again and tried to listen for anything I could understand and the only thing i could make out was “Wo pu zao ni hai zi” meaning “I’m not looking for girls. Even I had difficulty understanding that. I’m not saying my Chinese is perfect it’s just that they should really find someone thats actually Chinese to represent Samsung for the Olympics because Rain will be the laughing stock of the country. I mean remember that other Chinese song he sang… “Memory in Your Hands” or something… I didn’t understand that either.
Dude he looks manorexic in that first picture….HE looks like he’s starving! Give the man a taco pronto!

After the ninja movie, Rain can go on to do a movie about Concentraion Camp. It’s just too depressing to look at his face now. Rain will need to lose even more weight until the movie is shot. Maybe by the time the movie eventually comes out, some of his fans may not want to watch it as it will be painful to look!! There is just nothing good about men with bony face.

I’ll always love Rain. One of the reasons why is not so much the dancing and clothes, although he can really cut a rug, but his ambition and persistence. He’s a terrific actor as well. He needs to cut the hair a little and gain a few more pounds. Come on Rain, you can do anything!

In my honest opinion, I really did NOT like this CF; not because of the weird braids and the shirt-ripping, but because it’s a CHEAP copy of Stomp the Yard (movie).
It’s especially noticeable from 0:33-1:40 and from 6:50-7:00, and man, that almost made me cry. To use ideas from such a movie and twist them into something so plain and unoriginal…
Of course originality is pretty rare these days, but still! I was expecting a little more from him.

This was cute in a cheesy sort of way, and it certainly had enough product placement so I guess it works as an advert. But are people supposed to take the whole “ghetto Rain” image seriously?! It looks so contrived, beside, that style of clothing barely even works on rappers.
I seriously hate whoever it was for making “You Got Served,” ‘cos now it’s like everyone and their mother has to make a freakin’ film about street dancing (none of which seem particularly realistic). At least this was only a few minutes and not 1.5 hours. If dancing competitions were actually happening in China……….. well, I’d have to check that out. (And speaking of which, Rain’s Chinese = ……… wow.)

I just love that Rain has so much affect on people whether good or bad…it’s only individuals that are special entertainers that can arouse so much emotion in so many people or they wouldn’t even bother to look at what he does.
With so much talk about the “Any Dream” video. I found a clean copy on the web. I think it is pretty good. I like the story of a beaten dancer who recruits a bunch of non-dancers who prusue their hidden desire to dance and WIN the competition. It’s a fun video. I think alot of people forget music videos are suppose to be simple entertainment and not candidates for Oscars. The song is great, however I don’t speak Korean therefore I can’t speak for the lyrical content.

I’m kinda disappointed on him… I thought the “anydream” cf would be amazing. But while watching the cf i kinda get bored ‘coz it’s too long. And the braids or corn rows??… it just doesn’t look good on him IT JUST DOESN’T WORK!!!…. his hair cut on k-drama “a love to kill” as way better. The theme of the cf was sOOoooo CORNY!!!! And the dance steps was soo lame….It’s like he can’t think of any steps. His music videos before are so much better.

This was better than that Anymotion which was straight up racist with stereotypes of black people stealing from a store and attempting to attack a Korean woman. I like his dance and the tune was catchy. He has been away from JYP for less than a year and he is young. Give him time to find his own style his own groove. I think this guy’s got some talent. Give him space to develop it and stop all the complaining and hating the guy. This story line looks to be borrowed from the movie She’s Got Moves where there is a competition and the girl’s family don’t want her to dance but she shows up to the competition and gives a great performance.
i actually liked rain as an actor and not a singer.. i only like some songs… get back to acting rain .. not american movies..K DRAMAS.. where’s ur love for corea go? ><
