Korean Press not happy with Keanu Reeves
April 19th, 2008 Celebs in Korea
Keanu Reeves flew in to promote his new action flick, Street Kings. (2008). The Matrix star caused a bit of controversey with the Korean press with his stringent demands and secretive schedule. First, no one knew when he landed at Incheon airport, thus disappointing many fans and any opportunity for the press to take pictures. Next, the 44 year old actor insisted on a list of the participants and prepared questions prior to the press conference at the Grand Hyatt Hotel. All attendees were assigned I.D. cards and seats. In addition, cameras had to be checked in since picture-taking was not allowed in the press conference room. The cameras were returned to be used only at a set “photo” time.

Maybe the demands were to avoid pictures like this (see above at the Korean premiere at CGV in Yongsan)
Keanu Reeves’s people apologized for the inconvenience and noted that Hollywood stars sometimes make such requests. And the flim’s distributor, 20th Century Fox, added that such measures were taken due to security reasons.
Whatever.
Around the same time, Robert Downey Jr. was here in Seoul to promote his new Marvel comic adaptation, Iron Man and he made no such demands.
Street Kings is already in Korean theaters nationwide (opened April 17th 2008 ) and Iron Man will open on April 30th, 2008.

Egotistic much? I mean his PEOPLE can apologize all they want. It doesn’t mean bullshit unless the star says it himself, and really MEANS it.

…just wondering….. does he know that the storyline of one of his movies-Lakehouse was adapted from “Il Mare” a Korean original movie?

By the way….. it’s Lou Diamond Philipps who has some Filipino lineage. If Keanu has even a drop of Filipino blood… oh my gosh!!!! this is totally embarassing!

to jesikawabbit:
how could you say that having filipino blood is embarrassing! that’s discrimination, duh!
it’s not only LDP who has pinoy lineage but the ff:
Tia Carrere
Rob Schneider
Kirk Hammet of Metallica (and proud of having Lapu-Lapu
as his ancestor)
Nicole Scherzinger of PussyCat Dolls (before)
Mutya Buena of Sugababes
so how come that’s embarrassing?

Why does the public and the press seem to think they ‘own’ an actor and can dictate what he does and doesn’t do. He has every right to try to exert some control over his appearances. Just because a fan pays 15 bucks to see a movie doesn’t give them the right to infringe on his personal time, ie. when he’s eating in a restaurant or trying to make a plane. And BTW, Robert Downey Jr. is a camera whore; always was and still is.
