The awards given out at the 2nd Mnet 20’s Choice Awards on August 23rd 2008 were tabulated democratically by popular vote, but the results say otherwise.
An industry insider told us that the award shows are not democratic but are the result of deal making by music industry executives. If this is true, then we know why Park Yong-ha was picked as “Hot Global Star.” Who is he? Fellow nominees, Rain, Dong-bang-shin-ki or even the sexy Song Seung-heon are more widely known stars. And what’s with “Hot School girl” category? That doesn’t sound right. And is there an age limit on this? This one smells like it was made specifically for Sohee. And lastly, the “popular vote” for the “Hot issue maker” should be the President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Myung-bak, not U.S. beef, for being wooed by the U.S. government on the golf course and then hastily signing the U.S. import beef agreement without consulting his government.

these awards seemed so unnecessary most of the true musicians of Korea didn’t even come :X or I guess weren’t even invited, WFT :X well it just goes to show that Koreans are even bias towards the truly talented folks of their own country as well. Lee Beom-su and Park Yong-ha were the male leads in On Air, that aired in the spring (you can see it on the Internet). Both were marvelous in their roles and Mr. Lee had a chance to sing in two episodes-wow, what a great voice in the bonfire scene; he was good at karaoke too!

Why was there so much bad fashion? By now, haven’t the stylists/artists figured out that what looks trendy on the runway doesn’t always fit on stage or on a daily basis. And for Hyori to be a hot style icon, why was she caught twice wearing shoes that made her legs look shorter. Suh In Young has one of the worst styles. The nicest look was made by her Jewelry partner displaying the red gown. Seems like a lot of work needs to be done here…
