At the Marc by Marc Jacobs fashion show on August 28th, the first model out, Hong Jong-hyun on the runway was a dude in a pink dress. Shocking? Perhaps, my first thought was that he can easily be mistaken for T.O.P.’s brother (member of Big Bang).
The “man in a dress” is part of the Fall/Winter 08/09 ad campaign for the Marc Jacobs.

A creative nowdays is supposed to come out with radical ideas . The fashion world is aging, shockin’ new ideas are pretty a rarety. And to me, the boy in dress is not so exciting… Have you ever seen a visual rock group? This boy is way more manly than any 80’s pretty boy face. So that’s nothing new or so shocking in this Hong Jong-hyun…
Instead thinkin of Galliano “meeting moral perspectives” is kinda sad.
To assert that Hong is gay only because he is doing his work sounds not so brilliant to me, and if he was, he’s a cute boy, hopes he finds a nice one…

@everyone who says the dress is ugly, fashion shows are about pageantry, creating a spectacle, and MAYBE showcasing art through textile. Ugly clothing, make-up, or backdrops are nothing new. How many people do you see wearing runway clothes in everyday life? Zero. Why? Because it would be completely impractical! Putting a guy in a dress is a “shock” tactic for showcasing the line and putting on an entertaining, thought provoking show.
@the people who say Hong Jong-Hyun looks womanly… of course his body is well defined, he is wearing a BELT! One of the main purposes of a BELT (besides holding up pants) is to define the waist!!!

If anyone knew anything about fashion, they’d know fashion has endless possibilities. In the U.S. that same dress is on another male model and being published in almost all fashion magazines across the country. I don’t see the problem. So he wears a dress on a runway show; he gets great publicity in the fashion world and he’s still richer than all the people who say he’s gay lol.

I’m late but I can put my observations in, I think.
As we gender-base clothing styles, I think some opinions are biased.
The only thing I do not like about the ensemble is the pattern on the dress(dog-tooth is overdone these days), the gathers in the skirt, or the tulle… However it’s difficult to add enough to a dress like that to spice it up.
Overall, the look is pleasing; the collar and cut compliment Jong-Hyun’s shoulders, where the high-waist helps to show his slim figure underneath magenta, which makes him look thicker.
The entire look of course is out of place to the normal look of a man in traditionally considered male clothing.
The shoes seem out of place with the dress, but they support the whole look.
The look suits him, as I have seen many women in dresses like this and they were not flattering to the figure at all.
Marc Jacobs is casual look, to me.
wow, with his legs, they should have went for a longer dress, or some hose to soften the angles in his knees. otherwise, it’s a fashion show, that kind of stuff is meant to be artistic in a way that could be completely lost on everyone except the person who designed it. Do you really expect to see him out and about in this? if you do, you don’t pay that much attention
