FIRST
it’s cool and all but i wouldnt wanna go through all that trouble of buying a ticket there though im living in the states but yeahh cost too much n i dont like her that much so NO!
I hate her so why should I even bother?
if you hate her then why even leave a comment? lol
Things are actually happening. quite interesting! I’m sure the fans will have a blast.
I’m trying to see this in a positive light, but Lee Soo Man just seems so off when it comes to promotion.
“Don’t miss BoA’s first-ever U.S. performance!” …Ok, this isn’t her first-ever U.S. performance, she performed in Hollywood last year.
“Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008 in the MTV Times Square studio in NYC.” … They give you less than two weeks notice? It should be two months notice. Most people will either be in school, or already have plans. Wednesday? That’s a horrible day. It should be on the weekend, not in the middle of the work week.
“If you are BoA’s biggest fan email us at BoALiveNYC@gmail.com and tell us why.” … I hope Lee Soo Man realizes that these will be her fans from her Kpop days, as she has very few new ones due to the lack of publicity. Barely anybody outside of the Asian music scene knows that she released something. And I’m not counting that party she did for that Ben dude.
“25 LUCKY FANS HAVE THE CHANCE TO MAKE IT INSIDE MTV’S TIMES SQUARE STUDIOS!” … Does this mean that Lee Soo Man couldn’t secure a bigger studio? Only 25 people can fit inside… Also, you have to pay for your way there and back, as well as your hotel and any other expense.
“MTV will also simulcast air the performance on the largest high definition screen in the heart of Times Square.” … It will be played only on that one screen, not on TV or the internet. She’s not even listed on MTV.com. Problem with this: People will be busy walking to and from their points of destination, most likely in a hurry. That screen is always blasting something, they may not even notice it.
Lee Soo Man should try and secure her performances on day time TV shows, like Ellen and Oprah.
I just realized: That post makes me seem like a BoA hater. I’m not, I wish her all the luck in her American debut, I just have a problem with the way LSM is going about this.
^ I can see what your saying but I don’t think its just LSM
The Promotion team that they hired for her is to blame. their the ones with the “experience” working with big names in the business.
I think it was probably hard enough that they got to do something in the MTV studios… so im not going to complain about the date
anyways i think we all know her debut isn’t perfect.
plus everyone is highly doubtful about her to begin with.
Well it seems like every person crossing over will get heavily criticized regardless.
I still think they aren’t doing that bad. atleast they got to do something with MTV. they can build up a relationship with them or something
I think a problem a lot of us are having with her debut is that at the initial press conferrences, LSM made it seem like she was going to come out kicking with large publicity, but so far, not much has been happening. He seems to be keeping it all low-key.
^ really? I don’t remember him saying so much about promotions. I kinda figured it that they would have trouble anyways.. its pretty much inevitable to have A+ promotions when … your under these circumstances.
I heard they were running commercials on KIIS FM in LA and Z100 NY. i wish they would have done it right when the single was released but its still pretty good.
I can’t even remember how many press conferrence videos they had for this, but I do remember that after a while they started to blur into one @.@
They run commercials every once in a while, but they haven’t played the full song yet. KIIS FM is playing commercials because BoA will be at their Jingle Bell party…thingy. Not too sure about Z100, but they look like they could be sister stations.
I’m with you on that. I wish they had started back in October.
Is anyone else like “Who cares, already?”
^ It does seem like they’re slowly and quietly dragging it out until it’s like “Come on, already!”
Well, at least there is progress. I’m actually surprised that it’s done “so well”… as in getting so much promotion for it. It’s kind of amazing actually.
Wow I can’t believe this is actually happening! Boa will be on MTV! Go Boa! Boa is officially kicking off her US promotion at this MTV performance. Too bad I can’t miss work that day, or else I would fly out to NY to see Boa. I think Boa and her team are doing a pretty good job with her promotion. They’re taking baby steps but are building to bigger and better things. And I’m really happy to see so many things lined up for Boa like her upcoming Eat You Up performance at Youtube Live this Sunday, the MTV performance on Dec 3rd, and the Jingle Ball performance in LA. Boa is a hard working girl- I really wish her all the best.
Well, she’s actually doing it…wow…I seriously feel so nervous for her!
Lol maybe when she learns to sing. =)
Hahaha I can’t wait to see them laugh this b*tch off stage lmao. =)
She do it more than other.
Good luck for her, hope she have a good time
I wonder who BoA sucked off to get this gig. Even though it’s a pretty small ‘gig’.
Either way she’s either going to be lip synching or going to sound like crap.
is it just me or do the BoA anti’s just love coming to popseoul? lol
if she can’t sing you must have extremely high expectations for singers. She’s no where near being the best but granted she has a marketable voice. Not everyone can be like Christina and Mariah Carey. Hell, even rihanna can’t even sing LIVE but her voice sounds good on records. I was so surprised that she still hadn’t improved at all Her perf with TI at the mtv awards was so awful I didn’t know she was that bad.. ATleast BoA can carry a tune and dance on stage.
I understand that not everyone will love or even like her but its just kinda funny cause some haters end up liking people who just can’t sing and claim the one they hate is like completely not talented.
@upthewall
isnt it good to have haters flying up here?
i’m one though.
if we’re not here, how many posts this entry about BOA could gain? maybe just like 10 posts or something.
should be thankful people not just turn away their face on her, they still turn to see although it’s basically bad mouthing.
i never like Boa since the first time i saw her, so hope this small thing wont end up in a dust bin which likely so. it’s like she has nothing special to fight the american mainstream.
can dance but minus booty shaking skill, can sing, try to be sexy, hmm.. what else?
negative, and that’s my opinion.
this is not MTV, it’s MTViggy, which is not the same at all
you can’t find her if you search for her on MTV
every time she makes it to some B-list event the fans act as if she made it and Lee Soo Man is an FF-ing marketing and PR-genius.
well he is not!!! see how much money they threw away by having 2 mv’s made for the same song, which btw still can not be found on MTV, then scrapping one. that was 400K down the drain.
and it’s time to face that she is not going to be asked for Ellen or Oprah without a high chart ranking to back her up and that is where she fails miserably
well i’m all for her and i wish her the best :]
im in CA so i cant go ..
but we could support her by spreading the word..
about what? her being visible on a screen in Times Square?
sure.
and seriously, even if you dislike BoA
would it hurt to help another minority artist.
We need one artist to pave a way for future international artists..
so why not help?
but certainly not BOA
if one didnt like to, why she/he has to?
she doesnt need help from US (me and the others), she has to work herself out so the world would pay attention on her, e.g having something SPECIAL.
i haven’t seen that special thing to lend my support on her.
you can’t go to everyone and ask “please help her, she’s asian. we need one artist to pave the way.”
like it makes sense.. boooooooooooooooo!!!
Yeah, I saw this a few days ago, and it was actually pretty interesting to me, because I can get to New York in about thee hours via bus, so I actually even thought about emailing (since I’m in college, classes are… more flexible? lol).
But I ended up not doing it, just cuz I’m too lazy…
Anyhow, I wish her the best of luck on this, and I will be looking forward to a good performance. I’m not too nervous for her though, because she’s had so much stage experience that I’m sure once she starts getting into her performance, it won’t feel all nerve-racking and all like for some new=comers. I do hope she performs it live, since she’s already proven that she is capable of performing rigorous dance routines and singing live (her somewhat recent renditions of “Lose Your Mind” on her Japanese promotional performances were AMAZING… almost out-shined Amuro Namie).
As for the 25 people things… I’m wondering if they mean 25 people will win the chance to see her for free, while the rest have to pay. Of course, unless she really plans on performing just for 25 people, which I think would be harder, since the crowd would be so small. And for the radio thing, yes, they’ve been playing her commercials every hour on KISSFM and that New York station, so I suppose her radio=airtime for the actual song might start sometime soon.
Oh, and haha, yeah for the BoA bashing, interestingly enough, of all the news sites/blogs/forums I’ve visited, PopSeoul seems to have the highest degree of BoA haters. But on the same note, it’s rather refreshing to read criticisms on here once a while, after reading through pages and pages of praise and anticipation from other news sites/blogs, so I’m not really complaining (plus, it is kind of fun to duke it out with logic against some of the haters, I have to admit XD).
I’m rather surprised though that PopSeoul isn’t that supportive, since almost every one of my friends who are international students FROM Korea are almost blindly supportive of BoA, just like how Koreans get blindly supportive of the national soccer team for the World Cup. Apparently to them, it’s more or less very similar =/
if u dont want to go then dont post!!!
and here i thought i cud find some ppl who might be going
anyways shud be a blast ^^
@ thing:
Yeah, definitely, one deserves to fully consider the strengths, weaknesses, personalities, and appeals of an artist before liking them or supporting them. Honestly, it’s people like you who give a good balance to over-hyped figures, since not all of them really have the “it” to gain all that they deserve.
Someone like you obviously wouldn’t support the Korean soccer team during the World Cup, right? I mean, it’s pretty much a fact that the Korean soccer team has nothing “special”, and that most of the craze that happens in Korea is out of pure fandom/nationalism.
Great for you
You are a fair judge of all things.
Unfortunately, I happen to love fully supporting the Korean soccer team during World Cup XD, I guess I’m not as mature as someone like you…
i really want to go………<3
@ .nodame.:
No way!!! You’re not a hater =D and don’t worry about people mistaking you for one, because you definitely don’t sound like one.
All of your criticisms point out truth, and you sound indignant that BoA’s promotions are going at a snail’s pace (and taking some wrong turns), more than anything else.
But for some others who frequent this place… and choose to conclude her as a completely talentless “whore”, based on things like… Um… Oh yeah, what are those assumptions based on again? x_x; Nothing really solid… Er, maybe pure hatred/jealousy, I dunno.
People who point out truthful things actually help, because they balance the story and emphasize things that can be fixed.
Haters are… Well, they do a good job promoting an article, for free; as long as you can ignore or enjoy their fire, they’re almost like publicists, paid by their own currency of jealous/hatred.
A simple thing like a ticket can make popseoulers fight and pull each other’s hair!
If you want to go then go and if you don’t want to go then don’t go, what’s the big deal?!
Thing
it seems like your one of the more practical haters. I respect your opinion.
IMO I think shes perfect for the Asian music industry. she’s well rounded. although she doesn’t have spectacular vocals she has the ability to improve. Lots don’tlike her nasally voice. I don’t either.. but it eventually grew on me. If you compare a merikuri or winterlove performance from now and back then when it was released you can tell shes worked on trying not to be nasally. I think i turned into somewhat of a fan due to the fact that shes a respectable charactor.
I do agree she doesn’t have that amazing pow-wow factor that artists have in the U.S. But then i see some artists that don’t either and gives me a little light of hope. lol. lame. i know.
But I was literally talking about those who just write those awful and nasty comments like asking if she slept with someone to get this promo event. I just don’t like it when people resort to such things to bring someone down. Is that absolutely neccessary? There are those who point out the facts and there are those who just leave negative comments out of pure hatred.
HOLY SHIZZLE! If only I lived in NYC!
-sLaVe
wahahahha,my city!
@ upthewall:
Wait, I just don’t understand how people keep on saying that BoA has a problem with singing nasally. People must be mistaking what it is to sing “nasally” - if you want a good example of how a person sounds when putting pressure on their nasal cavity, listen to Shakira - she is a prominent example of a “nasal” singer (and while a lot of vocal coaches will hate it, her “nasal” singing has become a part of her own style, so people actually even go far as liking it).
BoA definitely is not nasal. She sounds forced and STRAINED when she sings, especially for the high notes, but sounding nasal is definitely not the right description for it. Have you guys heard Hamasaki Ayumi? She sings slightly nasally, but more so than BoA.
Seriously, I am not sure if these “nasal voice” comments on her are lingering around because people don’t really understand what they’re saying, or if they really think it’s nasal. A better description for the unpleasant way she sings when she reaches for her hard notes would be “strained”, “forced”, and even “scratchy”, but definitely not “nasal”.
I agree with nodame. SM made it seem like BoA will actually be storming across the US with her debut. I guess they didn’t think it was this hard to get her music on the airwaves. The only buzz I hear about her in the west comes from the east.
Good luck on that MTV gig. I ignored the giant HD screen the last time I was in Times Square.
I hope they air it on the MTV channel. It’s better promotion and will surely get people asking who she is.
upthewall
Yeah my standards are use to singers like christina aguilera, mariah carey, whitney houston, ect.
I would pay to see Boa try to out-sing every single one of them. =)
And Izumi please shut up. If someone thinks boa sounds nasal then someone thinks that, stop with the fan girl BS already, no one gives a flying f*ck about what you think.
When an Asian artist with real vocal talent gets into the US for more than a second I’ll support them like no other, I’ll promote them the best I can.
But BoA? no thanks, I don’t need some pop tart edited wannabe Britney spears skank singing about sucking c0ck being the ‘first’ asian music artist to ever ‘make it’ somewhere in the US. Are you guys on crack? hell no. The first artist sets the standard and sets the mold. I am not going to have some degrading b*tch singing about sucky sucky this and that be the ‘mold’.
Lol you guys act like no asian has made it into the US just because the US is so evil and racist, get real all the asian artist who’ve came to the US just expect people to love them because they make some corny pop song that gets lost among all the corny pop crap from white, black & hispanic artist that you only hear of once or twice. lol
Maybe if BoA had talent to begin with, and maybe if Utada hikaru had stuck to her normal music and maybe if Asia cruz had talent to begin with they would have impressed someone and would have got somewhere.
You can’t just come here with some fobby ass accent and some generic ass song when America is OVER pop music at this point, atleast the bubble gum pop, the only place that’s going to sell is within disney.
I’m sick of asians complaining about racism whenever one of their no talent crap artist who don’t even put the effort to LEARN ENGLISH gets sent packing back to rice land in tears. lol
Rain isn’t original, we already have Usher, BoA isn’t original we already have Britney, Utada hikaru sold out in the worst way and Se7en isn’t going anywhere in the US I don’t how much ass he kisses. he isn’t cute, and he isn’t original and his lyrics are corny as hell.
Why don’t you damn asians stop hanging on everyones coat tails when you want something and try making something new for once. one pathetic ass race, I didn’t see black americans trying to mold themselves into the pop scene, no they took their R&B music, changed it up a bit so it would appeal to everyone and basically took the hell over the music scene, insult todays rap music all you want but your little corny rappers in Asia are ripping line from line and style, and overall concepts that belong to hip hop/rap artist here in the US. lol
How sad is that. =)
You got SM boybands copying 90s boy bands, STILL.
You got YG artist copying chris brown and rap artist trying to call that sh*t original, are you kidding me. lol
You got your wannabe PCD or danity kanes, whatever.
BE ORIGINAL ASIANS.
Or shut the hell up.
@ Teana:
I love how you speak on EVERYONE’s behalf, since obviously you know exactly what everyone thinks about what I say.
Fan girl BS? Please. To start it off, I’m a guy, and to follow-through, I’m stating my points using examples and reasoning. What are you offering? A “nobody gives a flying f*ck what you think”?
I also love how you are so adamantly trolling on me, telling me to not express my opinions, when you are doing exactly that - expressing what YOU think.
If you want to take you seriously, step up a level, please, don’t just fling your flames at me.
why do boa haters always hav to get so emotional
if she bothres u that much go do something productive
ur insulting her isnt going to make her change her mind nor change ppl who already like her, ur just makin urself look like an @sswipe. if ur gonna criticize, do it like nodame, b reasonable dont be freakin shooting down every person who doesnt agree w/ u
i am seriously getting so tired of boa haters being the fattest hipprocrites, u guys say crap like “boa fans need to learn how to hear different opinions” and then u get so freakin offended when someone says something u dont agree w/, u make me laugh
btw, i wasnt even a boa fan to begin w/, but all these stupid hater comments that are totally disrepctly and unreasonable are making me think more in defending her
so good job, ur ended up making me into a boa fan, what a great impact ur opininos had in getting ur poitns across
Nah we just get offended when boa fans can’t just shut up and not reply to our OPINIONS, if you don’t like someones opinions then just don’t read it, and move on. lol if you’re going to reply to my damn opinion like I gave you f*cking permission to question it or pick at it then damn right I’m gonna snap back at you.
BoA is ugly, boa can’t sing, boa looks like a little boy face and body, and boa can’t dance. My opinion, like or it or not you will not question it without my permission and get a kind response trust me.
Lol boa fansa if this b*tch makes it past a casting couch by some stroke of luck you’re going to be e-fighting alot of haters, aka people who see what little talent she has, I suggest you prepare for that. lol
So pathetic.
Lol I hope this is live, I’m gonna be laughing at this slut singing about oral sex like a dog in heat. She is so digusting and un-talented. God I can’t wait to see her back in Asia and her pathetic little fans crying about the failed “take over” lol.
These wars over Boa articles are getting so oooooold…
That said, I wish Boa the best of luck on her performance, and I hope whoever of you who’ve sent in an email get to go.
Boa fans, take a chill pill, the anti comments against her most likely never get read by her, so you’re just wasting your time and energy defending her.
Anti fans. Take your own advice. AntiBoaA, your comment completely contradicted itself. If you get offended at fans picking apart your opinions, take your own advice and don’t read them. Just as you get to say anything you want about her and her fans, so can they about you and your comments.
Ah, by the way, those of you who are posting under different names/emails, you guys need to take it down a notch.
We can still see which IP Address your comment got posted from, regardless of whether you change your name/email/icon picture.
I thought I’d mention that, because in some of these articles, there are literally 2 or 3 people posting under several different names/emails.
Actually my comment was just that, if someone is going to reply to MY comment when I didn’t reply to them in the first place then I don’t have to ignore it because they’re the ones provoking me here. Not the other way around.
Either learn to take negative comments or shut the f*ck up already seriously I cannot wait for the mainstream media to pick up on the asian girl singing about oral sex, I wonder what you boa fans will do then when they make a f*cking joke about her, lol. =)
Her song leaves all sorts of digusting jokes up for grabs, lol. Too bad shes that untalented and boring that they don’t even want to tease her. LOL
I am sooooo excited for this.
HAHAHAHAHA
I LIVE IN NYC. I WILL EMAIL RIGHT AWAY.
Why not LA, BoA :d
I live in LA.
But I guess as long as BoA got some promotions, I’m happy with it.
And BoAfans, please stop argue back and forth with those antis. especially those who act so immaturely and spit out all the negativities, without providing anything to back up their absurd arguments.
^ Exactly, once again, you say that you can get worked up about someone criticizing and replying to your comment, but then you say that Boa fans need to “learn to take negative comments or shut the f*ck up”.
Take your own advice bud. Your getting more emotional right now than the defenders on this thread.
Oh, sorry caro110, I meant to reply that to the Anti kid up there.
I am from NY and I would go, just to see how the performance goes. She’s an okay artist a do i have respect for here. But since I am in school far from NY going is not an option.
i actually think AntiBoA is a fan who is trying to promote her articles, and its working ^^ maybe i should start baselessly bashing boa too, then ppl can reply to my comments, and then we can all make every boa article go over 200 comments!
BTW boa fans MTV iggy isn’t mainstream at all, lol. It isn’t some TRL gig MTV iggy is focused on foreign artist, asian, muslim, ect. lol……not exactly the MTV we’re use to, MTV iggy doesn’t even get the much promotion on ‘normal MTV’ ROFL.
and I’m sure her song/video wont be played on the screen although that wouldn’t make a difference considering JYP had Wonder Girls faces and song playing on the same screen 2 years ago rofl. And they were just newbies too. LOL and this is all boa can get?
lmao no talent = no real promotion.
LOLLL FAIL.
BluJ I’ll leave any kind of comment I like and if someone chooses to reply to it then they’re the ones provoking me which means I can take it any way I like.
If I leave a comment that doesn’t reply to anyone and it just my opinion that someone can’t handle, don’t reply to it in the first place.
If my comment isn’t directed at you or anyone then don’t reply to it just because you’re a f*cking emotional little fan b*tch. LOL
lool fail~! yes ^^ lets all expect the worst so that we can be RAELLY happy if she succeeds! good idea
Yes, spewing out curses shows that you’re definitely not an “emotional” “b*tch”, right?
No one on this current thread seemed to have replied to your posting either.
What other self-contradictions would you like to offer?
lol How about we just enjoy the failure as it unfolds. LOL
I know I am. ^__^
Oh and my bad guys, MTV iggy is just focused on asian entertainment, it isn’t even that broad to focus on other non-asian acts, lol……
I kind of feel bad for boa now lol.
Not only does she get a cheap crappy MV and have to at some point promote a song about sucking d*ck but she isn’t even smart enough to realize that sticking to ASIAN media in the US does not = BRANCHING OUT.
Too much pride to get out on the street and hand out CD’s like big time artist today had to do?
Aw poor boa. lol
Ah, finally, your self-contradictory posts have stopped.
I was hoping you’d continue your wonderful charade; if you kept on going at the pace you were, we could’ve even published a book on it.
BluJ you’re right no one did, which is why my comment was speaking about the people who simply posted their opinion and had the little faggy boa fans attacking them for it.
If you can’t handle a negative opinion that’s not f*cking directed at you, MOVE ON AND GET OVER IT. =)
I don’t see beyonce fans b*tching at every online person who doesn’t like her, lol. Maybe that’s the difference between international mega stars, and small time d-listers. lol
Their fans can be confident shes someone so the people who dislike her don’t even matter at this point, and boa fans….can’t even take a few negative comments, tsk tsk. d-listers should take all the attention they can get. negative or positive. lmao
ANYWAYS.
Guess I’ll stick around to this site and bash boa on any topic I can LOL. =)
Good, keep up your promotional work. All I care is that PopSeoul.com gets more hits. Click the refresh button a few more times, while you’re at it.
I like Popseoul so why would I mind that? LOL =)
Moron ROFL.
PS keep the boa articles coming, lol.
omg i cant wait!!!! i liv in new jersey so i might go for this
shes so pretty and so talented, boa unnie fighting!!!!
oh yes
please keep these articles coming
It keeps me more excited about her debut
o m g
i was listening to the radio and i just heard boa’s commercial
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! i got goosebumps all over and jojo was all complimenting her on all her achievements
yayayayayay!
i would so go see her if i were in the u.s.
too bad i’m in australia, noooo T_T
i am seriously addicted to her song, its on my top playlist along w/ eat you up, single ladies, and liv ur life… it fits in perfectly w/ these new american hits, sm is a genius
keep the fighting coming
Quote: “I didn’t see black americans trying to mold themselves into the pop scene, no they took their R&B music, changed it up a bit so it would appeal to everyone and basically took the hell over the music scene”
Largely thanks to Elvis Presley - a Southern white boy, who in the 50s took the “black sound” and brought it to mainstream that paved the way for black artists to walk down the path to showcase their music.
My point? Not much but just giving a view and how music came to be what it is today - through exposure and hardships despite criticisms and backlash.
BoA is not the first Korean artist (Rain’s been there, done that on MTV TRL in ‘05) nor will she be the last but those who want to support her should do so. Personally, it’s great to see Asian artists appearing in the US, however big or small the venue. With each step, it’s more exposure as they are knocking down that racial/cultural barrier little by little.
There is plenty of room so good luck to her.
Elvis had nothing to do with black americans breaking into the music scene moron, if he did then he would have promoted their labels back then and helped them out, but no he went there, stole and pretended to be original.
Africans american created their own labels, hired their own people to run it and hired their own people with talent as artist, and had their OWN music and were original, they weren’t trying to sound like those little white girl groups or those white country singers, they brought the R&B and they brought the old school hip hop, the rock, ect, and everyone, *E.V.E.R.YO.N.E* followed and continues to today.
Asians should try doing the same instead of trying to jump into scenes where they don’t fit in.
Hey Anti, Your response is so ridiculous and out of touch that I cannot even respond. Go study on the history of rock & roll.
Go study the history?
How about you go study the history of how black rock n roll artist, or should I say just people in their house bored with blues music started rock music you moron.
Lol you people are so in love with these white people you believe anything they tell you huh?
How sad is that.
pot calling the kettle black
Ah heres a nice quote for you..it might pull that head of yours out of whitey’s ball sack you clueless turd.
“Lost is the reality that rock `n’ roll was actually born out of the belly of Black blues music and raised by Black artists in the 1950s in smoke-filled clubs along Beale Street in Memphis, 47th Street in Chicago and 125th Street in Harlem. Only years later, when White teenagers began openly digging the electric guitars and the pounding drum beats that Black artists were playing - a sound their parents had disparagingly labeled “race” and “rhythm and blues” music - did White disc jockey Alan Freed re-name it “rock `n’ roll,” and White artists entered the lucrative field without stigma.
And when they did, they didn’t revolutionize the music. Lacking creativity, many White artists “covered” songs Blacks had written years earlier and made it big by copying the performing styles, dances and dress of Black artists like Little Richard, who even today can’t believe how he and other Black artists were ripped off.”
Keep up your reaseach…and everyone here will probably thank me for leaving this site so you can go on with your select choices of mature, intellingent name calling.
Come on! What’s all about the hatre here? If you don’t want to be supportive of BoA, then don’t go. There is no need to bash her with stupidity (to some of the haters).
To me, this is actually a small promotion, but at least that her promotional activities are in progress.
You can’t expect to have her coming here with a huge promotion since she is considered a very new artist in the US market. She’s starting herself at the bottom again (just like when she was in Japan).
LOL trust me Miki I’m paying literally thousands each year at school to learn about this stuff you think I don’t know about, lol. =)
This is my *research* this is what I spend hours writing about and spend hours researching to write about LOL.
But thanks for giving up, trying to keep some of your pride I see lol.
Go study Anti…you don’t want your thousands to go to waste arguing in Popseoul of all places.
LOL @ miki, okay I’ll make it less…pathetic looking..
Omggg miki you’re so right, I was SO wrong.
OMG IM GONNA GO CRY AND LEAVE NOW. lol
Now go muster up some pride and suck it b*tch.
BTW, you have NOT even convinced me with your rantings and hatred…wow, you have issues. Now go have fun at the playground.
antiboa got nothing but facts there. i had that part before about rock and roll but did not feel like reading much
oops i meant heard
Just take some history in class and you think you know everything? lolz. So full of yourself.
Propably you just an internet troll, google some informations and post it here. Try so hard to be impressive?
But I honestly think you have no life. If you HATE BoA that much why bother coming to this thread and post all these bashings from time to time and attack anybody that argues against you. You must have plenty of free time in your hands.
No matter how hard you try she is still successful and got all the fame and wealth. Compared to her, you are nothing. So I actually feel soory for you because you grow such a strong hatred toward an artist that you barely know anything about.
She might not appeal to your taste but wow…diss her to such an extent?
BoA might not be the best singer out there. I like her actually but not a crazy fan of her but I think she is a great PERFORMER/ENTERTAINER. Give credit when credit is due.
boo boa sucks
And everybody should ignore that troll and let her/himself bark like a dog.
I wonder now all these negative comments above are actually from this anti user alone.
If we reply back to her comments, it’s only push this battle further and make that internet troll having the chance to spread more negativities.
And lol at that comment of candis “AntiBoA has nothing but facts there”. Lol.
One person, 2 IDs? pwahaha
Popseoul - please correct the title it’s MTV Iggy. Basically it’s like MTV K, MTV Chi, etc just mixed into one channel. (Remember how those channels were canceled?)
In other words it’s the MTV World Channel that hardly anyone cares about.
RiceSmasher: So do you want traditional/folk Asian music hit big in the States or what? Like trot or enka?
You seem target mainstream artists, what about the indie or underground? Aren’t they also getting music influences from the West as well?
They enjoy that kind making that kind of music, so why bother what they like? And guess what - music genres isn’t limited to race or ethnicity. lol maybe you’re the one who’s being the bigot here.
aren’t limited*
Oh and what about Asian American artists? Or do you disregard them as unoriginal too? Your little rant is pretty flawed.
well antiboa DOES have nothing but facts, everyhing she said was true…..Elvis ripped off lots of black music…African Americans DID start Rock n’ Roll…but I guess all of you are soo in denial that you refuse to do your research and get the facts….these stories run literally 24-7 on VH1 classic…you can hear all about how blacks started Blues which simply branched out into different genres of music..its ignorant of you “pathetic loser” (how befitting) to acusse someone of simply spewing negative comments when in reality its all true….BoA isn’t doing anything to promote herself here and most …like 99.9% of people outside of the Asian Music industry have hardly ever heard of her and don’t intend too..she isn’t gonna dominate….Latinos and Blacks have just started getting thier recongintion and they have been fighting much longer and MUCH harder than asians to get thier voices heard….
i am not antiboa i am someone else to the idiots who think i am antiboa
ladoftern
the voice of reason. the one who made me know i was not dumb when saying about the one drop rule
@ RiceSmasher: SHUT. UP. and STOP. GENERALIZING.
I know you have some good points, but you are overanalyzing and generalizing everything. FYI, if you’re annoyed at asians that much, why bother coming here in the first place?
Honestly, how bout that asian girl Charice pempengco? as i can see, she seems doing well and is getting famous.. isnt she asian? -hypothetical question if you dont get it-
The asian guy from Black eyed peas. Lea Salonga who usually sings Disney songs and broadway
Lucy liu, jackie chan and etc…? I dont know about Lucy Liu singing though.. but other than the music industry, they are pretty famous in Hollywood in the talento secion
SO STFU!
I am sick and tired of people like you who generalize everything… -sheesh- talk about being so narrow minded and yes as i quote ‘kay’” you’re the one who’s being a bigot here”
@AntiBoa and Ladoftern: I agree w/ u about Boa on most part, but please stop assumin stuff until it happens.
And regarding to the blacks and latinos fighting longer than asians for their voices to be heard…. how would you know if asians werent fighting longer than black or latinos? Maybe they were fighting way before them, but their voices still wasnt heard? So stop sputtering nonsense because no one can fully tell the actual history unless the person was actually there… and even if they were there, how do we know that their telling the truth?
Im not talking about the general slavery or whatever (because we know that it happened). However, i’m talking about the other parts of the world whos history has never been told or heard…
Anyways, im getting off topic here:
Awwww Its on Dec 3rd? damn I have my Psycho exam on that day x.x and i cant leave cause il fail University =( Awwww bad timing
“BoA will perform her debut American single “Eat You Up” at MTV NYC studios on December 3rd. The anticipated live performance will be broadcasted on the jumbo screens in Times Square in addition to MTV U, MTV2, and MTV IGGY.”
So yes - this performance will be shown on MTV as well as on Times Square’s TV screens.
wasn’t Rain on that show a couple of years ago? or TRL or something…
woah.. AntiBoA’s in college?
ud think by paying tuition, going to a school to learn and be more open minded, he’d be a little bit less of a curse-mouthful, more emotional than logical kind of a person… lmao… probably attends community 2 year college or somethin, go study kid, then maybe u can actually do well instead of wasting ur time and shuffling out ur inner complexes on a music gossip blog
lmao that fool above me pretending to be me
uh lmao, i’m not pretending to be u
my name is cadis, i’ve been using this id on rposts
i didnt bother to read ur posts, and im not changing my id just for u
lmao at u for being so self centered othe
see your name must not be candis you cant even spell it right
BOA IS AWESOME. ^^
D; meh, dnw
:O BoA in NY? Finally after 5 years i get to see her again =D
WHHOOOAAA! This is so cool, and IT’S ON MY BIRTHDAY!!! AHHHHH!!! ^^
@izumi & Upinthewall
after all i guess i’m right. see how many haters here compare to lovers.
and why should i support Korean soccer team? My family would think i’m out of my mind, just coz i like few korean entertainers doesnt mean i have to support them all. like it makes sense already. during the match back to world cup, i supported turkey soccer team, they have great goal keeper, and great one player, Ilhan Mansiz, and they won. (and why was this on the topic?)
come back to Boa, well you to say that i’m fair, to judge from what i see from her NOW, lack of that something SPECIAL, i think she should go home somewhere and do her homework before continuing this meaningless attempt to break American mainstream, and suppose to be BY HER SELF, not dictates by her agency or other people who try to be smartass.
in a book there’s saying “do not work on something you don’t have but work on something you already have to the max”
she’s the person who understand her own strength
and weakness, and uniqueness. there’s nothing wrong to go check all of her performances she has done previously and find out in what area she could improve and what area she shall never try ever again. advices of course should be taken since there’re people who really know how to do it, but she can’t solely give all her home work to someone else and just nod.
Big artists (the real big one, e.g Madona) do not only depends of their talents, look, how much money to waste for promotion, etc… all of it comes back to the individual personal strength at the end. it’s called self examination because the obstacles mainly come from yourself not from others.
i dont know if Boa has gone to that level since she’s very young, but i know some entertainers who have such things though they’re very very young.
Miley Cyrus is one, she’s very young, she’s not really good at singing LIVE, but she never try to do it lipsync for whatever reasons, and she’s done her own home work like 90% of it, and she’s really really smart for her age. i’m not her fan, but i admire her as a person. her interviews were always like motivational speeches. that what sets her apart, makes her really special.
last note - the world isn’t BLIND. some of us certainly are, but when the WORLD sees someone who has outstanding character or really amazing at the things she/he does, i can guarantee they’re not going to just close their eyes.
we have thousands profs out there.
that’s why i wrote, it’s not US (me and you) who could help her to pave the way. It’s herself.
only then she could come back and try and see how it works. even if she failed later the day, she could stand very proudly and satisfy coz this is exactly what she wants to do, the image she would like to show the world.
it’s called releasing her dream not someone’s else dream (e.g her weird agency)
my opinion - BOA? negative!
@Izumi: Thank you for that
I guess I was just worried about some of the reactions that I would receive, because some of the people here are… harsh, to put it nicely.
About the performance being showed on MTV, and MTV2: That was just speculation by a fan in the Made In Twenty community on LJ. That’s not actually going happen :/
It will just be shown on the screen in Times Square.
wow thing typed alot
i dont know what else to write, damn… everyone else has taken all, seemed like i’m a bit too late. T_T
@thing
i know one korean entertainer who suit your description.
of course none other than RAIN
anyway, let’s sum up what you write, BoA sucks, am i rite? hehehe… see my nick name
I like BoA, but I don’t like how some of her fans try to get away with speculations. (ie. the MV by the American producer would be hacked, but in reality SM stated that he use both MVs). As for the MTV Iggy thing.. I haven’t heard an actual confirmation about the other MTV channels.. so we’ll see what will happen.
too bad i cant go to new york. if they included airfare i would so be there. i love boa and would like to see her in concert one day.
AntiBoA may not have the cleanest comments (lol) but when you ignore the vulgarities, he/she makes a lot of sense most of the time and the people who continue to reply back to him/her seem more emotional than he/she actually does…
Anyway, as for BoA, I wish her all the best. She doesn’t have the best promotion, but something is better than nothing. Though I do wish LSM didn’t put her on such a high pedestal at first. That really didn’t help. I agree with .nodame. 100 percent.
BoA on Youtube LIVE…check it out
Youtube Live NOV 22 2008 5 PM PST 8PM PST
to: miki
So you tell AntiBoA to go study history, but you don’t believe him when he tells you the facts…? Are you in denial? And please stop acting like you’re so mature- you’re just making yourself look stupid. “Your response is so ridiculous and out of touch that I cannot even respond.”… um, that sounded like a response to me. Just accept that you’re wrong about the Rock and Roll thing, OK?
It’s not a matter of opinion, IT’S FACT. Even I knew that, and I’m in high school- unless your in elementary school… “BTW, you have NOT even convinced me with your rantings and hatred…wow, you have issues. Now go have fun at the playground.” “issues”? You’re the one with issues, considering that you can’t accept the truth. Looks like your comment of “pot calling the kettle black” just backfired on you, although it didn’t make sense when you used it. And dude/dudette, if you seriously think that Rock and Roll originated from white people, take your own advice and go research the facts. You’re already sitting on your ass all day on the computer anyways.
to: pathetic loser!
“ignore that troll and let her/himself bark like a dog… I wonder now all these negative comments above are actually from this anti user alone.” Am I the only one who thinks that comment is hypocritical? You call someone a “troll” and then say they’re posting “negative comments”? What is up with that- if you’re so upset about negative comments, start by not posting them yourself.
Just because someone agrees with someone else’s opinion that YOU don’t agree with doesn’t mean they’re using two ID’s. But going by your ideology, everyone here who supports your opinions must all be the same person using different ID’s! And because “all these negative comments above are actually from this anti user alone”, you must be the same person! It’s a conspiracy!
“Just take some history in class and you think you know everything? lolz. So full of yourself.” When did anyone here say they “know everything”? It’s called FACTS. Some things you just have to accept. But clearly, that’s not part of your vocabulary. How else would anyone know the history of Rock and Roll without researching? It’s kind of a hard thing to pull out of your ass, you know.
Seems that I got carried away… ANYWAYS. I don’t hate BoA or anything, but I’m not her greatest fan either. I do realize that there’re a lot of singers in the US who SUCK but they all have something that makes them unique. Plus they have a HUGE advantage: they speak perfect English. Or they have a sexy foreign accent. The Korean accent isn’t exactly the sexiest one out there.
IMO, her voice is painful, strained, and obnoxious. THAT’S JUST MY OPINION, OK? Just because you can carry a tune doesn’t mean you can see. I believe that you’re either born with the talent of singing or you’re not: if you’re born with it, you can improve but you can’t improve if you’re not born with it. But she is NOT ugly, though I don’t appreciate her face: she didn’t get all that plastic surgery to hear people say she’s ugly! (HAHA) I like her dancing though. I admire her courage to debut in the vicious music industry here, but sometimes courage isn’t enough.
@fdfsd: Um, she’s performing in Japan.
And will be live on THIS page at 10PM PST (since it’s 3PM in Japan): youtube . com/livetoyoko
(notice the difference between YouTube Live and YouTube Livetokyo)
.. Apparently people can’t read nor how to convert time zones.
Yea…guess not. Her name WAS listed on the Youtube Live in San Francisco page, but then she wasn’t on the playlist when it started boo. Also read on Coolsmurf’s page that she was going to be the MC linking San Francisco and Tokyo, but I guess not…
cool ;D
i think shes pretty.
