At the end of December, Lee Da-hae made a surprise announcement that she will be leaving the hit drama, “East of Eden.” The 24 year old actress, who played the character, Hye-rin, posted up a note on the drama site telling fans that she could not understand her character and can no longer take on the responsbility of the role (or could the real reason be because of a certain room arrangement?) Her last episode will be #40 on January 13th where her character will be leaving to the U.S. to study and leaving her friend and fellow Seoul National University law school classmate, Lee Dong-wook (played by Yeon Jung-hoon).
And in her place, Hwang Jung-eum (right), member of pop act Sugar, will be stepping into Lee Da-hae’s place. The 23 year old will play the daughter of a prosecutor who eventually marries Yeon Jung-hoon’s character.

Lmao look at all these people supporting Lee Yeon Hee. Who cares if she has more popularity? Lee Da Hae is most definitely the better actress (all LYH can do is act pretty and cry) and she had the right to leave this dragging drama. No one knows what the hell is going on with her character anyways. First she likes Dong Wook, then all of a sudden she leaves him and likes Dong Chul, but then Dong Chul is too busy with Grace. Seriously, how is she “arrogant” when shes leaving because her character was put aside because of what SSH did? If anyone’s arrogant its SSH for changing the plot because of what he wants. Geez, this drama was so much better in the first half of it (1-30 episodes) when it was clear and promising. Now it just drags and makes me gag whenever I see SSH and LYH together. Although the guy who plays Shin Myung Hoon has grown to be a great actor and has quite an interesting character.

No. the writer did not quit. the writer is sick, so there’s another writer replace her. she is sick but she will still guide the new writer until today but she did not quit. so all the plot today is written by the new writer but under the guidelines of ms Na.
Lee Da Hae announces her leaving at eps 25. but she must have make an agreement at eps 24 i believe. announcement is usually after confirmation.

I am a East of Eden fan. So far I am a little disappionted with LDH with her decision to leave the drama but it is her own choice and personal reason ,maybe, that she wants to leave. Also people…. LDH made the announcement BEFORE the room arrangement!!!! Don’t just start bashing on others when you don’t know the whole story. Popseoul is not 100% accurate.
For all it’s worth, let me just say this: Lee Da Hae is a Very Fine Actress. Understandably, people have differing opinions about an individual because liking and disliking are very subjective emotions, depending on each one’s pre-conceived notions of that individual. But if we look back and think about it in a detached manner, Lee Da Hae has truly shown her versatility and professionalism throughout her acting career, awards or not. For her to quit working in the middle of a project must have been a difficult decision she had to make, knowing the criticisms that would come her way. Let’s be mature about this and respect her decision. I can only wish Lee Da Hae the best in her upcoming projects and hope she would never have to come up with another heartbreaking decision such as this.

That’s good news.. I watch the first half of the series and let me tell you, I was bored to tears. Her character is vague anyways! The writers should make it more interesting and less dull. Or better yet wrap the whole drama.
