Wondergirls must be the only Korean artists she knows.
Turns out that the Wondergirls are getting exposure beyond the Northern hemisphere. Australian artist, Lenka, has been getting some attention from Korean press for professing that she would like to meet the Wondergirls.
“The musician I want to see most in Korea is the Wonder Girls. I first heard of the Wondergirls on Perez Hilton’s blog and thought their music was fun and interesting.”
Not because they are musically gifted singers? It’s okay, I’m not into them like that either.
Lenka, famous for the song “The Show” that has been featured on American television shows such as “Ugly Betty” and “Grey’s Anatomy,” is expected to drop down in Korea to perform at the 2009 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival on July 24th through July 26th.
Lenka also added, “I have always been fond of Korean food, but, this time, I am really happy that I can try Korean bibimbap (rice with beef and mixed vegetables).” Well, at least the girl has good taste…buds.
Too bad for Lenka though because the Wondergirls will be busy in America with the Jonas Brothers concert tour.

I think this is in the same realm of the answers that black eyed peas and megan fox gave when they were coming to korea. I think foreign artists are given a little background on who’s hot in the korean music scene and just chooses one! I can just picture these people given a handout with descriptions and quotes about kpop and they check a box next to who they’re gonna say is their fav, ha!

Cause the WGs make it so easy! I do like Epik High, Big Mama, and others, but the only ones who seem to make the gossip blogs are horrible, cheesy groups like the wgs, etc.

sometimes they just do that to get attention, but in reality they never even heard of WG, but their management tells them to say stuff that aren’t true… Hope she isn’t like that.

I ain’t really sure. Isn’t she an Aussie artist or something? Her songs are commonly played in radios here in the Philippines and other Asian countries- I think- though I don’t really know where she comes from. I heard she’s Aussie? Isn’t she?

I live in Australia and I have heard of Lenka’s music, I love what she does, for the Aussies who havent heard of her, you probably know her from Cheez TV hehe or heard her song on the ad for “Packed to the Rafters”. She’s not really popular down under but she’s making her rounds in other countries. I agree with the others who think she’s in the realms of black eyed peas and megan fox
i live in australia and yes i do know lenka(didnt really know her name just her face) from the cheez tv days… which was quite long ago… she was quite funny and interesting to watch cos of how she imitates singers and their dances. but i never knew she was a singer now…dont hear anything about her anymore
yay! hello fellow aussies (above me). like most of you I honestly didnt know who the heck Lenka is until now. she is just not that famous here in Australia. but I guess its because she hasnt marketed herself here in her home country, but has done that overseas where shes found success.
about the Wondergirls!, well i love them along with many other korean pop acts. Alot of people I know here, girls AND guys like/ know about the Wondergirls.
She’s has so-so sucess back in the States. Most poeple don’t really know who she is either. But she had a few hit songs because syhe was either featured in some TV show or they used her music in popular shows. I almost forgot who she is, but hey, she’s doing a lot better than some people… so who am I to judge?

I think most foreign artist don’t know much if aything at all about Korea. All they know is that there’s gimchi, kimbap, and Seoul. Not to say they all don’t know about it, but I feel like if I compared interiews of them in certian countries they have much more knowledge about other countries.I guess you can’t blame them though, but maybe they could pick people less popular to namedrop.

well, Australia has a pretty small population, so a lot of musicians go overseas to get their start. maybe one day we will be able to see lenka perform here in ozland. that would be cool…..
